Description Because Batwoman rocks. Even though the New 52 reboot really doesn't float my boat, Batwoman is still one of the most kickass comic book heroines. She's got amazing martial arts skills (seriously, Batwoman will BREAK YO' FACE) and tons of badass gadgets, and tends to face off against some fairly otherworldly villains. Greg Rucka's run on the book was sublime.

Digital is making these kind of cropped in 'three quarter' images a lot easier to make interesting because I can draw as much of the body as I need then work into the area I'll actually use for the image

Thanks for checking this out, hope you guys like her! -Rem

Many heroines/villainesses involved in Batman are AWESOME. I really like the war you drew her here. One thing I hate about comics, in general, is the "huge breast factor". I'm very glad you don't do that. SHe truly looks armed and dressed to defend herself, and not clad up in spandex for the sake of showing everything.

*offers up a fistbump* You speak my language. I love the basic setup of DC's females but I don't like the rather questionable way DC often sacrifice them (or destroy their character traits) for dramatic effect. I hate characters drawn for no reason with huge boobs *cough* Rob Liefield *cough cough*. I hate female characters drawn stick thin and 7 foot tall too. Real people are all kinds of different shapes, angular, curvy, bony, bouncy and we're all beautiful and unique and I vastly prefer art to reflect that rather than BS caricatures. And I hate it when people draw a character totally uncharacteristically for the sake of more popularity via cheesecake. Fundamentally what I love about Batwoman is her no nonsense, nonpretentious approach to being a heroine. They really let that slip in Hydrology (which I can relate Williams had to both draw AND write himself, also following the unfollowable Greg Rucka as a writer which is going to be harsh realm any way you cut it, that's like being the band who have to go on after The Prodigy) but nonetheless I've picked up To Drown the World all the same. She's such an interesting, non-stereotypical character I think she deserves me giving her a second chance. Also I will probably draw her again sometime soon I found she was quite straightforward to work out in my style and fun to draw

I agree with everything you said. I haven't read the Batwoman comics yet, I'm sticking to Batman or it gets too heavy on my budget (and there already are TONS of these XD) but I love her as a character every time we meet her in a comic.

Oh god yes. I tend to just buy a few TPBs here and there rather than trying to keep up with anything. And thank you, felt like I went a bit ranty there but it was worth saying, I'm glad you agree!

Ranting about good causes can never be bad !! Especially things that could be so easily avoided T_T You know, I've noticed that I never came across ONE SINGLE woman as a comics author, or even penciler.

There's a lot who are very active but they don't often get the same publicity as the male artists and writers, which I think blows. There's Ann Nocenti, Gail Simone, Becky Cloonan, Chyna Clugston-Major...they are less numerous than male writers and artists, granted, but they are out there and doing their thing. Just a bit further under the radar is all.

Never much been a fan but she is looking fairly wicked here. Very intense and ready to go all out.

Aw thank you I'm glad you like it, I had a lot of fun here with ol' Batwoman.

I like the character but have had misgivings about what they've done with her. It's a bit like Iron Man where I was into him as a kid before they made Stark into a wheeler-dealery just-north-of-dodgy slimebag. In Batwoman's case, the last book I read had her being a complete ass to everyone and like Leon in RE6 made some idiotic moves that got innocent people badly hurt which is bad enough in the first place for a good guy but it's even worse for someone you'd previously had a lot of character respect for. Which was a shame because I had loved Elegy, the book before. I've got the most recent one cheap but am a bit scared to read it lol.

However, much like Resident Evil's latest outrages, it doesn't devalue the older entries for me, just makes them a bit more 'We literally had it best here'. The animated version of Batwoman is my favourite still though. Much more spunky, less goth 'THERE IS NOOO LOOOOOVE' type shenanigans, more butt-kicking and wisecracking. And she rides a jetboard.

I need to have a look at the Gail Simone reboot Barbara Gordon Batgirl at some point...mind you need to cool off about my Steph Brown/Cass Cain issues first .

Hell hath no fury like a fan who's had his favourite characters retconned out of existence after all .

I have decided to give the New 52 reboot of Miss Kane gettin' her Batwoman on another chance though as I saw the second volume in the sale yesterday at a bookstore
