Their peacetime they had was all they ever really wanted. It was theirs and theirs alone. Nothing could have ever made them abandon each other. They wouldn't have gotten up anyway. Whether it was an urgent call from their bosses, or something had been turned in late and needed to be taken care of. Or even if it was something like traveling to another country to discuss serious matters at hand. Nothing was going to disrupt them.

Although they weren't cuddling like normal couple's would, they weren't normal couples. One of them was a stuck up British gentleman with a frown on his face, a deep blush on his cheeks, and slightly ruffled sandy-brown hair. He wore his dark green military-style coat and pants, one of his hands propping his head up, his elbow on the armrest of the couch sofa. Right next to him was an American yankee with a content and peaceful grin on his face, bright blue eyes, and a nice crop of blond hair. He had on a pair of jeans, a light coat, and a white shirt with strange patterns that looked oddly like fries and burgers. His left arm was in his lap, and his other one was holding onto another's. The two people were holding hands. They weren't cuddling, they weren't telling each other I love you, or even scooting closer to one another.

Why? Because they already knew that the other loved each other. They didn't need to hug or kiss every single time they were together. The feelings were already there. It was already understood that the American would never leave the Brit's side. And it was also apparent that the Britishman loved the American unconditionally, with freedom, of course.

And right now, it was their own alone time. Holding hands on the couch, watching television, and doing something so normal to every other person alive. Yet, to them, this was special. This was when they would just sit together, since they hardly had time in their otherwise hectic lives they led. Something like this was rare for them, and they just wanted to calm down, relax, and spend quality time with one another. That's all they ever really wanted. All they ever really needed was each other.
