THIS IS EXACTLY THE CONCEPT I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!
I never owned a DS or made it past Leaf Green, but it's not just the pokemon's designs that turned me off. I've always preferred the old school style of sprites. The Reb/Blue/Green sprites are fantastically creepy and ugly, with a chubby Pikachu, giant tounged Golbat, fat Blastoise Gastly made of actual gas instead of a cheap comet shape, curly rockhaired Geodude, and ninja karate Poliwrath, the list goes on and on!
Only having a blank white pixel and three shades of grey/black meant they mostly tried designs that took advantage of the high contrast
Even as early as Yellow version, some of the charm was taken away from the ugly critters and they were anime-zed. Some sprites were really inaccurate and needed a redesign, but not all of them.
I also miss Ken Sugimori's old school instruction booklet art, with patchy watercolors and squat, homely versions of Red/Ash/Jack and Blue/Gary/John.. The newer trainers look like they are tourists and backpackers of the region, not local trainers.

I would make another sheet if I'll be able to edit pkmn red or yellow and put these sprites in.
But I haven't found any program to change front'n' back sprites, so I think making next sheet would be useless :/
