It was only a few moments before Jayheart poked her head through the lichen. "Firestar, there's someone here for you." she said. Firestar nodded, and the brown she-cat backed out of the den. In her place came Brambleclaw guiding a small black cat- the same one from his dream! The claws on his one white paw were unsheathed, his white-tipped tail swishing back and forth, the dog teeth mounted on his red collar glistening. "Who are you? Why have you attacked my patrols?" Firestar demanded, glaring forward into the cat's ice blue eyes. "I am Scourge," the tom mewed. "Leader of BloodClan!" Firestar was shocked at this. What in StarClan was BloodClan? The only Clans he knew of were ShadowClan, WindClan, RiverClan, and ThunderClan! "Err, BloodClan...?" he asked, wrapping his tail around his paws and waiting for an answer. Scourge sighed. "I am leader of BloodClan, and Bone is my deputy. We have many warriors, and we'll kill you all if we have to!" he hissed, raising his white paw, showing his pitiful claws reinforced with dog teeth. Firestar knew instantly that BloodClan wasn't a real Clan, if they had no proper names. "Why have you come to me?" he asked, feeling slightly fearful of the cat's claws. Scourge set down his paw before speaking again. "I have come to ask for some of your territory. ShadowClan has already offered some of theirs." the small cat mewed. Firestar jumped to his paws, hissing in outrage. "Never!" he exclaimed, arching his back so that he was twice the size of the tiny black cat. Scourge bared his teeth, and said, "You will or you will die!" he spat angrily, but then regret flashed in his eyes and he stood normally. "R-Rusty...?" he said quietly, eyes wide in disbelief. Firestar did the same as Scourge, lowering himself to his normal height. How does he know that!? he thought, gazing at the small cat. "Y-Yes," he hesitated to answer. But then he straightened up. "But I am Firestar now. Rusty is my old na-" he didn't get to finish, for Scourge bounded over to him, rubbing his head on his shoulder. "It really is you!" he exclaimed, smiling with happiness. Firestar stared at him in shock for a moment, but then shook him off. Scourge looked up at the bigger cat. "Firestar, I'm your brother. Don't you remember me?" he asked, his eyes showing that he was confused. Firestar's own eyes narrowed to slits. How dare this tiny cat come to his Clan, and make up some silly excuse to get some of his territory? Firestar shoved Scourge towards the entrance. "Get out! I'm not your brother and I'm not giving you any of my territory!" he yowled, glaring angrily at the black tom. Scourge simply stared at him with confusion. But hatred soon clouded his eyes, and he sped out of the den. Brambleclaw, who had been silent and no help at all in the situation, padded over to his leader. They exchanged glances, and the tabby deputy padded out of the den. Firestar sighed and layed down in his own nest. He closed his eyes, hoping to get some sleep before that night's gathering.

Firestar led his warriors up the ravine. Below was fourtrees, the gathering place in the middle of all the territories. WindClan and RiverClan were already there. Firestar flicked his tail to his cats, and they raced down into the clearing. The three Clans mixed together, greeting one another with either curt nods or brief licks. Firestar was met by Mistyfoot, the RiverClan deputy. "Hello," the blue-grey she-cat mewed. "Hello. Were is Leopardstar?" Firestar said in return. Mistyfoot looked down at her paws, sadness clouding her gaze. Firestar wanted to comfort her, but what would other cats think of it? "You'll find out when the gathering starts." Mistyfoot said, and padded away. At that moment, ShadowClan and their leader, Tigerstar, burst into the clearing. Firestar, Mistyfoot, and Tigerstar climbed up onto the great rock were Tallstar, WindClan's leader, already stood. The leaders dipped their heads to one another, and faced the cats around them. "WindClan will go first," Tallstar said, his voice silencing the cats below. "Clan life has pretty much been great. But, our patrols have scented ShadowClan cats on our territory." he meowed. Tigerstar said nothing as he glared at the black and white tom. Tallstar went on. "Tigerstar, tell your warriors to keep off our territory." he said, and turned to Mistyfoot, who had waited patiently beside the older cat. "RiverClan has suffered greatly over the past moon. Leopardstar lost her last life two sunrises ago." when she finished, cats all around the clearing bowed their heads in silent grief; even Tigerstar. Though the murderous tabby usually only cared for himself, he had enough smarts to respect fellow leaders. Mistyfoot- Mistystar now- turned to Firestar. He ran through what he was going to say in his mind, then turned to the cats below. "ThunderClan has been excelant the past few days. But we, too, have scented ShadowClan on our territory." he said, and all three leaders turned and glared at Tigerstar. The tabby tom backed up, and almost fell off the great rock. Just then, a storm cloud covered the moon. Tallstar and Mistystar leaped off the great rock, leaving Firestar and Tigerstar to glare at each other. The ShadowClan leader growled at him, then jumped off the great rock, leading his Clan back to their own territory. Firestar sighed and leaped off the great rock, and was met by Brambleclaw. The two nodded, and Firestar led his Clan back towards their territory.
