Description Firestar had been sleeping peacefully in his den when Brambleclaw bolted into the den. Firestar raised his head and looked into the excited warrior's face. "It's Sandstorm!" the tabby mewed, flicking his tail for his leader to follow. Firestar got to his paws straight away and followed his deputy out of the den. Several cats were gathered outside the nursery, Jayheart standing in their way, scratching any cat's paws that tried to enter. Firestar shoved his way through the crowd and past Jayheart. Inside the nursery, Ashfur sat beside Sandstorm, three small kits laying at her side. The bright ginger she-cat noticed her mate and smiled. There was silence for a moment, then Firestar padded closer. "What are their names?" he asked, gazing down at his new kits. "Fernkit," Sandstorm mewed, brushing her tail over a grey tabby she-kit. "Lionkit," she said, and did the same to a golden-yellow tom. "And Dawnkit," she mewed, pointing with her nose to a white tom, the smallest of the three. Firestar licked his mate in proud, but then a loud yowl sounded from outside. Firestar turned to the entrance and saw the cats stare at the entrance to camp, their fur bristling madly. Sandstorm, Ashfur and he exchanged nervous glances, then he shouldered through his warriors once again. What he saw froze him to the spot with fear. There stood Scourge, with a black-and-white tom standing beside him. Bone. Scourge glared forward at Firestar with burning ice-blue eyes. "Have you changed your mind about giving us territory..?" he asked. Shock no longer held Firestar to the spot. He bristled madly and bared his teeth. "Never!" he yowled in outrage, standing his ground against the smaller cat. The black tom stood still for a moment, then raised his head to the sun. "BloodClan, attack!!" he yowled out, and in an instant the camp was filled with hissing mews and battling cats. Firestar planted himself in front of the nursery beside Jayheart. Each time a rouge came close they would bat it away with unsheathed claws. But than Firestar saw Scourge perched holding Whitepelt to the high rock by her neck. He let out a screech of fury and leaped at the two cats. He ripped Scourge off of Whitepelt, allowing the she-cat to scurry off and help Jayheart. Scourge quickly got to his paws and bowled into Firestar. The two wrestled around for a moment, then jumped to their paws. Scourge smiled as Bone, the huge, muscular deputy step in between them. Scourge raced off, leaving Firestar to face the black-and-white tom alone. The purple-collared cat let out a yowl of fury and leaped at the bright-ginger tom. Firestar darted off to the side, but Bone was too quick for him. Firestar was pinned down in an instant. He scratched furiously at the tom's stomach, but he seemed to ignore it as he shot his head down to bite deep into his neck. Firestar struggled to get him off, but with each try Bone's grip got tighter. Firestar closed his eyes and braced himself to loose a life, but suddenly Bone's weight was lifted. Firestar opened his eyes and saw Whitepelt and Patchclaw holding Bone down with their paws. Firestar quickly got up and dug his fangs into the tom's throught. Bone let out a blood-curtling cry, and managed to scratch Firestar on the shoulder before going limp. The three ThunderClan cats dipped their heads to each other and raced off in differant directions. Firestar leaped at the closest BloodClan cat, a brown she-cat with tan paws. The she-cat saw him coming and darted to the side, letting the leader dive into the brambles. The she-cat growled and bit into his shoulders and threw him onto his back. Firestar let out a yowl of pain as the she-cat scratched away at his stomach. He kicked her off with his hind paws and raced over to her. He scratched a long scar across her face, sending her running out of camp. He stood watching for less than a heartbeat, then was bowled over. He looked up and was surprised to see Whitepelt. "What was that for!?" he said, and Whitepelt's only response was a tail-flick a mouse-length behind them. There was Scourge, lying in the dust. "He was trying to attack you from behind," Whitepelt mewed, and raced off into battle. Firestar bunched his muscles to leap at Scourge, when a yowl sounded from the entrance. There stood Tallstar with several WindClan warriors behind them. What are they doing here!? Firestar thought, watching Tallstar stare in shock at the battle before him. The black-and-white tom shook his head and raced into battle alongside his warriors. Firestar sighed in relief and turned to Scourge. The tom had gone, but in the same instant Firestar felt searing pain in his tail. He yowled and looked behind him. There stood Scourge, his tail gripped firmly between his teeth. There was not enough time for Firestar to attack before Scourge leaped onto his back and dug his sharp fangs and claws into his throught.

Firestar opened his eyes. He was exactly were he had blacked out, but the battle no longer went on. He turned to the high rock, and the starry shape of a StarClan cat was perched on top of it. Firestar got to his paws, muscles aching, and staggered toward it until he recognized the cat- Bluestar, the leader of ThunderClan before him. "You have just lost your seventh life," the blue-grey she-cat mewed. Firestar winced as she touched her nose to his. He watched as she raised her head once again, straightening up as if she were about to say something important. In a strange voice, she muttered, "Three will rise against the stars, and bring peace to the forest." when she finished, she and the clearing around them began to fade. Firestar was pushed to the ground by an invisible force, and he closed his eyes. He awoke back in the ThunderClan camp, in the same place were Scourge had taken away his seventh life. The sound of battle no longer went on, but the smell of blood still hung over the clearing. Firestar staggered to his paws and stared around the clearing. ThunderClan cats and WindClan cats mixed together, either cleaning their wounds or helping others. Firestar noticed Tallstar speaking with a ragged, skinny grey she-cat beside the high rock. Could it be...? he thought, padding over to them. The two noticed him and gazed forward at the scratched-up cat. "Firestar," Tallstar meowed once he reached them. "We've found your medicine cat." as he spoke, the grey she-cat beside him looked down at her paws, ears drooping. Cinderpelt! It is you! Firestar thought, gazing at her. He turned to Tallstar. "Thank you," he mewed, dipping his head. "ThunderClan are in debt to you." Tallstar simply stared at the ginger tom with narrow eyes. The black-and-white tom padded over to the entrance, called his warriors together, and left. Firestar and Cinderpelt stood silent for a few moments, until Firestar rest his tail over her shoulders. "I'm sorry," he mewed, which seemed to cheer her up a little. She managed to steal a quick lick on his cheek before running off to her den. Firestar smiled slightly, but then remembered what had happened before the battle. He turned to the nursery and padded in, only to be horrified at what he saw. Sandstorm stood beside the limp body of Fernkit, several wounds scattered across her pelt. Lionkit and Dawnkit huddled together beneath her, and Ashfur stood off to the side, looking hardly wounded at all. The dappled tom turned to Firestar when he entered. "S-Sorry," he mewed quietly. "Scourge got in, and..." he trailed off and looked at the limp body of Fernkit. Firestar shook his head, padded over to Sandstorm, and licked her between the ears. "It's alright," he mewed, following his mate's gaze towards Fernkit.
