Gift art for ~Bleedv of her character Bleed.I've been meaning to draw Bleed for Nicole ever since I first found her gallery, something about her design really got me, I simply love her.
When I think about it, I think it's been a year since I first tried to draw her, I made many attempts but I was never happy with how they looked.
On March this year I decided to try again and this came out and I was quite pleased with the result. I liked the idea of portraying Bleed, whose background story is everything but pleasant, on a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
The more I look at it, the more I like it, I don't know, this one is very simple, didn't take too much time to figure out how to shade, but I love it.
I looked up some photos of hackney horses to get their awesome trot right, I'm not sure if I succeeded yet.
After a while of drawing this, I realised that shadows of objects and creatures on snow are in fact BLUE. More fail for me...
So here is Bleed in all her grey awesomeness, I hope you like it Nicole!

Nah, I hate Facebook with a passion and I barely have any time to manage anything on the internet other than my two art galleries and email, and even those don't get much attention XD I don't even go on MSN much lately, busy busy!

O que mais me chamou a atenção foi a atmosfera do fundo, que predomina no desenho apesar das cores de Bleed, porque o modo como ela se movimenta passa uma idéia de calma também.
Adorei o sombreamento, principalmente o da neve. Acho que o problema com a nuvem é que ela tá muito lisa, eu tento fazer nuvens compridas com efeito 'esfarelado' e umas poucas partes fofinhas... Pelo menos eu acho assim mais fácil do que as comuns grandes e cheias de efeito ^^' Mas enfim, nuvens são mesmo a dor, então releve.

As nuvens que tenho desanhado ultimamente são muito melhores, eu não prestei muita antenção ao que estava a fazer neste desenho, estava mais com pressa de o acabar visto que já lá ia um ano desde que queria desenhar esse personagem XD

I think that was pure luck here, this isn't one of my most elaborate works but still, there's a lot of stuff that I achieved here that I can't on my other works. Sometimes the more thought I put on something, the more I ruin it, it seems.

And if you want critiques, you could improve with sky for the next time. I mean that cloud. Adding more details could make clouds to look better, more realistic. Although of course clouds are a huge pain to draw traditionally (that`s why I never do that). And even in photoshop with special brushes they are very hard to draw and never look the way they should.
But anyway, keep on going, you are improving, and that`s the main thing. Overall this drawing looks great.
And it`s nice to see that you are back in DA and seeing your new drawings is great.

Ugh, that cloud, I hate it. I've been working on those to.
My priorities lately(besides of drawing other stuff than horses) have been drawing night time setting, practice water and clouds and lose my fear of shading too dark or/and too light. I've been getting some improvements, but I need to work a lot on those.

When it comes to shading, I also have fear to shade too dark, but lately, after some practice with drawing still life (what`s the most boring thing to draw for me) I`m finally slowly starting to get over that. But shading is so hard (especially if I want to do that correctly). Ad water, last time I tried to draw water with pencils, result was bad, but clouds, I`m afraid to start trying them, because I already know that the result will be bad, if I would try.
But, yeah, practice always gives some improvements.

Sometimes water and clouds come out looking really nice for me, especially when I don't think about them too much. I tend to go overboard with details, so that's a big no no when it comes down to water and clouds, because well, they're not that detailed, I'm still struggling to find a technique that suits me when drawing them though...
