many and i mean lots of people talk crap about armin but if you look very closely the epic three a.k.a eren mikasa and armin are representaions of tradegy eren the symbol of pain despair and revenge but strength coming from his past and his experinace of the world.
 
mikasa the symbol of hoplessness and lost feelings of sadness and lonelyness but hope coming from well her diffrence and family dying but eren saving her  becoming her light in the darkness.

and armin his a very deep one paying close attention to his role as brain's he's shown as a survivor look his parents died killed by titans
and his grandfather was forcibly drafted by the army and killed he's in the army seen death's and blood but keeps a cool head so he's a war child erens the warrior mikasa is the soldier armin the survivor
