I love your humor. You nailed:1. Garrus' big ego; 2.James' Leather neck dumbness; 3. Liara's conceit and jealousy; and 4.Shepard' thinly veiled bitchiness. This is so funny,

That would explain all the disappearances. It's obviously not lazy programing or disk space...or whatever you want.

I don't think Liara will be in the squad for much longer either. Liara annoyed me a bit, but I still like her. I didn't like how she got more attention than everyone else, AND that she gets completely devastated about Thessia. It's not like it's totally new. Earth was lost, Palaven was lost, hundreds of colonies are being destroyed. Thessia isn't any different, except Kai Leng beats Shepard. She also got a lot of attention in ME 2 and ME 3, almost like preferrential treatment

Liara always seemed prone to panic. I can understand why she's devastated, blaming herself for not doing more research from what the SB had, although she was really a very lousy one. But hey, she just got her shitload of information.
You should see how Liara fans react if you say anything bad about Liara on SBN. You mention some even death like the rest? No. Your fav character should die.>
And don't even get me started on the blue-babies. The drama after the endings, how they all whined they promised Liara they'd have blue-babies with her, they said so in LotSB.
Wow, now that I think of it, I saw some of the weirdest shit on SBN. Besides the Tali's sweat taste.

Yeah, come to think of it, out of all the LIs those two have the most fantasies made of them by fanboys and fangirls. Yeah, there was the promise of blue babies, but there was also the knowledge that Shepard will likely sacrifice his or her life. Same goes for building Tali a house on the homeworld. I can understand why Liara would be devastated, but I thought she would be blaming her government as well. After all, the asari Councilor decided to stay out of the summit and take a back seat to the whole war. As for how fans react, well, I hear plenty of "I love Ashley" comments and "Ashley should die" comments. Sure, the latter makes me a little sad, but I don't lash out at them. Yes, I love all the characters in Mass Effect, but they are video game characters. I react very differently to a comment about how my favorite squadmate should die compared to a comment on how a loved one in RL should die. Oh, speaking of that, I said to my mom yesterday that I didn't like Kelly Chambers after I played ME 3 because of Samantha Traynor, and that if Kelly Chambers wouldn't provide a war asset, I wouldn't care about keeping her alive. Same goes for Diana Allers.
Hmmm, maybe at some point Shepard could say that to the two women. "The only reason why I am keeping you two alive is because you are valuable to the war in your own ways. If it wasn't for that, I would let you die in a heartbeat"

I'll never get why some people go to extremes with their characters. There was a thread on BSN about companions, I made a remark on Liara her fans didn't agree with, and then I got harassed by a bunch of them. The fun part was how butthurt they were. I had a Garrus banner and they started picking on him. They kept it like that for a few days until some of them got a temporary ban. And I wasn't even trying to troll anyone, but after their hysteria, I couldn't help it, and they just kept replying to everything I said. When I was pointing out their irrational behavior, they'd try to tell me how I failed a sarcasm check. Of course, because walls of texts are so very convincing. The saddest part was how the first guy I started arguing with, went to the Liara thread telling everyone there how there's this one guy who said bad stuff about Liara.
And the Tali thread which was used as a chat thread. Everyone broadcasting how they'd go to sleep and what's going on after they asked the same thing 5 min ago. Because lots of pages would bring her back in ME3. And everyone was competing who's fav character thread has the most pages. "OMG, Miranda thread beat us. Let's post some more."
Weird people.

And that's why I never go on BSN. Or not very often, anyways. I think fans can do that on Deviantart as well. I saw a fan comic where Shepard broke up with Garrus and went back to Kaidan. The reaction was so harsh that you would think the author KILLED Garrus. They were like "OMG WHY DID YOU BREAK GARRUS' HEART" and "OMG YOU ARE A MONSTER". It was her opinion though. She had thought that Garrus wasn't the right LI for her Shepard, that Kaidan is the right LI. Come to think of it, it almost sounds like the ending controversy...

Well, youtube is just as bad. Not just that they react on every grammar mistake, but when you look at a video where Shepard breaks up with an LI, especially with Garrus or Tali, they immediately call you a monster. But the only reason to put up these videos is because most of the fans don't break up with their LI's and out of pure curiosity they watch these videos to see what would happen if you did. And I like almost every Mass Effect character and am a real fan of most characters, especially Liara, Garrus and Tali, but I don't hate or spam every person who says they hate or talk bad about a certain character. That just goes out of line, everyone has their own opinion, and everyone should respect that.

I agree. Breaking up with a LI doesn't make you a monster. Killing Wrex and Mordin does make you a monster though. The former is a break up. The latter is a betrayal. There's a big difference between the two. I think it's the Tali fans that make me a little hesitant to romance Tali sometimes. The same goes for Liara. When I think about romancing them, I think of all of those fans who are ready to shoot down anyone who says that Tali or Liara isn't a good squadmate.

It actually depends on what class your Shepard is, if you're an engineer, Tali isn't much of a helpful squadmate, while Liara or Vega are better options, the same goes for all the other classes. But I think that those fans are the bad side of allowing the player to romance a character, you allow the player to feel and care for the characters, for example, if you play CoD and a guy in your team dies, you just move on, but if you play a game that has romance options or the characters actually have personalities and opinions, you mourn for them. And some people just take that attachment just too far and ruin it for others.

I agree. It's good to mourn losing a character you are attached to, but not for too long. I move on quickly, since I got bigger things to worry about in the game and IRL. Although I like my LI, I like to run around with Liara and EDI. I am usually a soldier or an adept, and those two are perfect for those classes.

She wasn't totally useless in mine. I like how her biotic abilities complement mine. When she traps enemies with singularity, I would hit them with throw. But other than that, I'm not that fond of Liara.

I think in the old draft there was a moment where you had to choose between her and something. And she died there.
So many want her dead because she's Bioware fav!, for me the beam run death doesn't count. It's at the end of the game, after I'm forced to drag her with me for 3 levels.

YEah - how the fuck does she think Shepard feels?! He was ORDERED to leave Earth behind! If it hadn't been Anderson saying so, Shepard'd told the person to get f*cked and keep fighting on Earth. Shepard's completely fuming when he's sent to Mars. Positively pissed off. Yet Liara is sulking after one planet, when they f*ckin' brought it on themselves? I'm sorry, but I was routing for the Reapers on that one. I hate the Asari with a passion, I hate the Asari councilor more. With perhaps the sole exception of Aria T'loak and maybe Samara. The rest of them can go rot in hellfire.
