I hate to be that guy, but derp, herp-derp, hurr durr, etc. are memes mocking people with intellectual and developmental disabilities because of the way that we speak and the way we appear. I understand you want to make silly icons, but the words and intent behind it (the drooling, cross-eyed, stuttering caricature of an intellectually or developmentally disabled person) are hurtful.

No, it isn't- and was never meant to be this way. It's was just meant to be a fun word.
If it means this now, it's not the fault of an artist or even a few users. It's people abusing it.
As someone with those intellectual and developmental disabilities, I don't care if others say it.
Nor do some of the other kids I had/have class with in "special ed".
Words are only as hurtful as you MAKE them.

The words/memes have always been used that way. They originated that way, and that's how modern use is. I'm glad it doesn't bother you, but it bothers many of us, to have something like a funny meme based off of a stereotype of disabled people.
Words are hurtful as long as they hold meaning. As words can have a positive impact on one's life, so too can they have a negative impact. There's a reason people respectfully do not use the r word or slurs--because of negative connotations and the hurt that some words can bring.
I'm not here to argue. I wanted to inform, not argue. I just don't have the energy for it right now. If you disagree, fine, but please leave me be. If Ponacho disagrees, they can hide my comment or whatever.
