Summer was slowly passing by and Lipa had earned herself a week off, though earned was a strong word she wouldn’t use herself. The smoothie was bed written with the flu, turns out not sleeping for more than a week ended up in your body shutting down while in class and having been sent home by the nurse with yet another warning. Darn those who advised the importance of health.

That was how she ended up home alone, wrapped up in her old quilt and sitting in her bed while working on writing her reports. The sound of scratches filled the room, ink flowing across the page as she wrote with precision. Scattered parchments of paper laid across her purple sheets, the messy piles slowly growing as she slapped another paper down in the designated finished area… which was the only formally empty place on her bed.

Lipa took a breath, which evolved into a lung wracking cough in a few moments. Ugh, this was ridiculous, all she wanted was to finish these reports and ignore the red ink printed sheets she had thrown into the corner. She could barely stay awake, just a moment of closing her eyes resulted in a nap she did not want, but desperately needed. Reaching over to the side of her table she snatched some cough drops, the plastic crinkling against her skin as she popped the thin layer of foil open so she could have access.

Something she did not expect was the feeling of tiny little legs scampering up her arm. “Wh… Oh.” Her purple bagged eyes looked at the black little cottonpuff climbing up her arm, one that lets out a little hiss when she dared to reach for a pen with her free hand. Ah yes, she forgot about that.

One night around a week ago her Father had come home, stumbling around with a rather large black puff ball on his head before passing out on the couch. She didn’t question his purchase, but apparently he had bought the small fluff. When she asked him the next morning though, he had apparently no idea that he had done such a thing, which was unsurprising to her. The little cottonpuff was not a fan of his owner and would often hiss whenever her dad even dared to show him a hint of affection. Lipa would let out a noise of amusement whenever this happened, but it seems that karma had bit her in the back. This little cottonpuff had began hissing at her and hiding her pens whenever he could. Do not even get her started if she stayed up too late, she would come up to a very angry puffball.

Which brought us back to now…

That puffy little demon was defensively standing over her pens and paper, antennas raising and little arms clutching onto the utensils with as much power as he had. “Come on you little…” She coughed, clutching her throat tight as the raw pain spread. “Ugh…” Flopping onto her back, she stared up at the ceiling, a defeated expression on her face. All was quiet now that she had settled down. Closing her eyes, she rolled onto her side, a wave of drowsiness washing over her. It didn’t take long until soft little nasally snores filled the room, her chest rising and falling with a few pauses in between.

It seemed the puff was rather happy with this, as the moment Lipa had fallen asleep it had calmed down. Letting out a little click, it scuttled across the bedding and into the smoothies hand. If cottonpuffs could purr then this one would be. He took a moment to run around in the palm of her hand before settling down with a proud little huff. Now his human was going to get well rested, no worries about her overworking herself today.
