Just the standard article for plush making, you do it inside out with the ears on the inside the way they'll be facing out. And in this case the sides are folded in at a certain point to give it a more realistic appearance

Perhaps if I see it, I'm limited to the types of fleece they offer at fabric stores, I don't know off hand if I've ever seen a red plaid for sale.
I made a recent trip with friends to restock on fabric just a few days ago, spending quite a lot getting a large variety since it's been awhile, I'm not sure when the next time I will be making a trip out there will be.
