Description Drawn sometime in 2009, coloured January 2011

Again, the original pencil sketch is only about three inches high, but scanned much larger. (It's a doodle on the side of her character sheet.)
Rough image scanned from the character sheet: [link]

Zahira al Majidah, a Taftani mage (ancient Arabic magicians, specialized in summoning/binding djinni) from the World of Darkness. Created her back in '99 I think, maybe '00.

There is a lot more behind the character, but she has a very flamboyant personality that's fun to rp. She's also the tabletop (dice and paper) rp character that my wolf Majidah took a lot of characteristics from.

pencil drawing, coloured in adobe CS3 with a wacom tablet. (Gah, I'm not sure whether to list this as digital or traditional. I'll just go with 'mixed'.)

Thanks. ^_^ It's hard to believe that this came from a few inches tall sketch.

Petty awesome!

And hey...I remember the World of Darkness! Although...djinn seem to be part of the new line's version of Changeling: the Dreaming now.

Do you mean Changeling the Lost, the NWoD book? I saw that in there too, many things are now changelings instead.

Zahirah is a Taftani mage, it's a huge surprise that she hasn't just blown up from paradox yet. lol

>Do you mean Changeling the Lost, the NWoD book? I saw that in there too, many things are now changelings instead.

I read the back of one of their Changeling: the Lost supplements. Β The flavor text had this little rhyme that included the line "The djinn rest in their flasks." Β So, yeah...that's how I knew.

>Zahirah is a Taftani mage, it's a huge surprise that she hasn't just blown up from paradox yet. lol

I remember the Taftani. Β Another thing different from nWoD's Mage: the Awakening.

Say...couldn't they be an offshoot Thyrsus?

Thanks! The part I love is that the original is actually only a few inches tall and sketched on the edge of her character sheet. XD

You're welcome. I'm glad that the original doodle eventually developed into an impressive artwork.

Also pretty extraordinary jewelry design, those breast cups being the most unusual.

Really? Is it because of the gold coin dangles?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ChiefJudge In reply to PookaWitch [2013-06-19 20:46:00 +0000 UTC]

Yes. It might be the dangles - they look somewhat massive as well as upper arm and thigh bands (I sort of find it appealing when female characters wear massive jewelry pieces). Also blue/dark blue background emphasizes gold very well further enhancing impression. It's clearly visible that a certain amount of effort was invested to make those adornments an integral part of the character.

As for the cups, you simply don't see such adornments every day. On the one hand they seem to be far more revealing than an ordinary bra (maybe because of lack of any straps and excessive cloth in sight) and on the other hand they still preserve a certain amount of modesty. Don't know how does she manage to keep them on though, lol.

PookaWitch In reply to ChiefJudge [2013-06-19 21:43:02 +0000 UTC]

Heh, part of the large jewelry size is due to the original picture being so tiny, but Zahira does love her bling.
And for keeping them on... magic. (Seriously. She's a powerful mage and master of the matter sphere, most of her clothing she just magics right on.)

I would also like to note that impressive work you did on her eyes - they totally seem to be not from this world.

That is just amazing. I just joined and I too added a genie emerging from a lamp, but yours is just beautiful and magical.

Oh, Zahira isn't actually a genie, she's a genie summoner/binder. ^_^ I pictured it more like her holding a lamp as the genie she released is starting to form.

I played a TaftΓ’ni in Mage : The Ascension too. Her name is Zobeida and she's Master (five dots) in Time and Spirit ^^

Nice job anyway ^^

PookaWitch In reply to Thezibaim [2011-03-14 00:38:39 +0000 UTC]

Zahira is more of a Spirit, Forces and Matter type of mage. She's one of those characters that I can't really play too often because she grew too powerful. She was originally in a historical campaign (with the merit to keep from aging, from a Djinn), starting in Ancient Arabia, until she was time tossed forward into around the 1600s (the effect that would make her re-appear happened), and has been played through numerous campaigns until modern day. She funnily started out as more of a sidekick/hireling character for a powerful Assamite vampire. Back when they were both alive Zahira swore service to him (bound by magic) until one of them permanently died (which she thought would be only a moment in time, since she had obtained immortality from a wish). And, well, she didn't expect her master to become a vampire. >.>

Our Game Master didn't take Vampires and Werewolves in his campaigns : according to him, Mages are enough to have fun. And I was agree with him ^^

PookaWitch In reply to Thezibaim [2011-03-14 14:38:11 +0000 UTC]

Funnily Mage was the game that we rarely touched, and they were only in our home game for occasional side characters. Werewolf, Changeling and Vampire were our main games, and we love cross-overs. ^_^

^_^ Thanks. She's supposed to be from really ancient Arabia, back during the Zoasterism days (and was the high mage to a very rich and powerful man... so could get away with eccentrics).

PookaWitch In reply to CrimsonArk [2011-01-10 13:42:09 +0000 UTC]

^_^ Thanks. I had difficulty with her hair design. In the old pictures it was a more simple, but high, ponytail but found it lacking. I thought back to her SIMS version which had this huge, puffed out ponytail and used that with her newer image. (the older ones are from, wow, around '99 I think. O.o )

Pfft, seriously, just a lot of practice. I should really scan some of the pictures I drew in my early 20s just so people can realise how bad my old art used to be.

I probably should have gone with reds since she loves to throw fire around like it's leaves on the wind... but I like the look of the blue more.

I love the sultry, otherworldly look in her eyes, and how she's not exactly suggestive despite how little clothing there actually is on her. I also love he eyelashes: they're fantastically drawn. They have a particularly realistic texture to them.

It's pretty amazing for a doodle - probably my only concern is her lamp's handle (it looks like it's half floating by her fingers, half melting into them). And it works, oddly enough, if you imagine some magical reason for the lamp handle looking like it does.

Well you do have to realize that on the original sketch that hand and handle is maybe half an inch at most. lol It was difficult to get the detail in there. I may have to see if I can adjust it without taking away from the pencil sketch feel to the top layer. Zooming in I think I can see where it got messed up.
