Way before seeing two Michael Bell-voiced characters get stabbed the fuck up (and get a clean bill of health afterwards) and before seeing Ironhide get his head blown off, Nimh was the darkest animation ever got! Seriously, people—if you haven’t seen it, GO SEE IT! Brisby is a kiss-ass character. Very underrated.

And darkest animated movie? what about Heavy Metal, Wizards, Fire and Ice, Watership Down, Golgo 13 The Professional, Akira, Fist of the north star etc.? or you didn't see those until you were a teen and adult right?

I was only speaking from my own personal opinion. Nimh was the first dark animated feature I ever saw. The first of many.

What about the other ones i mentioned? did you see those later on as a teen and adult?
Do you remember Flight of Dragons? another good 1982 animated fantasy.
You should do Nausicaa sometime.

Of the ones you've, I've seen both Heavy Metals, Golgo 13/Professional (in which I did do a set of pics of Laura Dawson months ago), Akira, and Fist Of North Star. And let's not forget the many Toshio Maeda hentai flicks which I drew many nameless characters from, all of whom have met horrific fates.
