Description I give you the pico 8 pixel art template! Inspired by the fantasy console known as pico 8 which is a all in one video game making program.

instructions

Load this image into any pixel program with layers, and use the canvas area to design your sprite.
The boxes in the bottom of the template are for storing your sprites and animations. The palette to the right of the template holds 16 colors for creating pixel art. A simple eye droper tool, or setting up the palette manually will allow for quick access to the colors.

I hope this helps someone to make a game of their own. What I found Extremely helpful was to swap color palettes (16 colors only) with another set.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- The canvas has a 16x16 grid.

- The sprite sheet's the same size like the original, but the animation boxes take up space within this section.

- The colors in this template are identical to the original. In the box to the right is the color palette, and to the left we have color relationship for palette choices.

- True to pico 8 restrictions I included in 4 sprite sheets. Don't get too excited they're just pixels.

Pico 8 belongs to lexaloffle

Me too! ^ ^  I really wanted to make games in pico 8 myself, but my lack of programming knowledge has foiled my plan.

Well honestly there are a few tools/engines out the on the web that require little or no knowledge in programming, though you may need a background in game logic... Try this link: www.scirra.com/

I use Construct 2 to make simple games and I'm currently getting ready to start using Unity 3D, which uses C# to make larger game projects... You should definitely give C2 a try... I really easy to grasp and make proto-type early.

Oh yeah, I actually have construct 2. It took me a bit of time to properly learn the ins and outs of the program, but now it's super easy, and that's wonderful that your using Unity. From what I've heard it's an amazing piece of software. : )

I meant to say pico 8 itself requires programming knowledge that I really tried to understand, but couldn't grasp the first line of code. XD

Oh man... Well, if you truly enjoy the editor don't give up on learning how to program within it. BTW what language does pico 8 use???

And yes, C2 is extremely easy to pick up on the fly... Made a few web games with it and I really enjoy using it for the simplistic UI/event system

I believe it's lua (I might have wrote that wrong) With some restrictions.

Oh, and I have a funny story about construct 2. I recently started making a pop nebula dreamer video game with it, and it took me 2 hours for me to realize that the reason why nothing was working is the layout wasn't even attached to the event sheet. Ha ha.. Well it was funny to me anyway. XD

You pronounced it correctly Lua is a language I'm familiar with. And as for that C2 situation, don't sweat it m8 You wouldn't believe the amount of bonehead things I've done in my projects LOL!!! Especially the larger scale projects I've made. Have you uploaded any of your projects to the Scirra arcade yet? Just curious

That's amazing, you must be a genius to decipher all of that code. O_O  This will be my first game, so no projects uploaded yet. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so it takes me a bit longer to polish my work. I keep telling myself "Hmm... Not bad.. But it could use spash of color here, and now do the same thing everything else I made." XD

So true! ^ ^ By the way I just uploaded a new screenshot . of the other half of the game. The journey of making this section of the game was quite comical because I constantly google things when I'm stuck. Right at the most critical part of development my internet decided to quit on me. XD

LOL!!! Actually the syntax for Construct 2 is fairly simplistic once you get the hang of the event system. With that said, learning how things work within the engine (connecting behaviors and events together) is the difficult part. Getting over that hurdle will make using C2 in the future a bit easier IMO...

Well being a perfectionist in game development is actually a good thing... Constantly scanning over every move made during the development cycle makes for a "less buggy" gaming experience. I'm the type of game fan that doesn't mind when my favorite devs take more time to polish a final build... it just means I'll get the best possible game for my money.

I'll be honest I had no idea what Pico 8 was and had no idea how this template would be used, but I did research because
I was curious and wow, Pico 8 seems really cool! I'm sure this will be helpful for other people!
