Yeah, that moment in trailer actually made me cry a little. Both because it was sweet but mostly because we all know it's not gonna last. Recent trailers proved it Thank you so much, glad you like it!

Her smiles are rare and suffering is all too familiar experience in her story.
I hope Gustavo Santaolalla returns to compose The Last of Us Part II.

Exaaactly, her smile both makes me happy and sad remembering there is not much in her life to smile about. Santaolalla is totally back, Druckmann confirmed))

Ellie lost her mother at a young age, there's also the loss of Riley, Tess, Henry, Sam, and also Marlene.
Honestly I do wonder if Joel ever told her the truth about the hospital though I suspect on some level she could worked it out on her own.
It's just that last line of hers in the first game stands out - she just says okay.
The one person she firmly bonds with is Joel and to a lesser degree I would say Bill.
The game did alternate between moments where you could almost forget that the world had been torn apart by a pandemic.
Ellie's jokes brought in a necessary humor quality along with other forms of humor.
I also did like the look of those comic books - Savage Starlight - it did seem to mirror the game's storyline.

I actually think they've never talked about it, maybe we'll see them discussing it in a sequel tho. I'm pretty sure she didn't believe him, her facial expression back in the car where Joel explains her how fireflies stopped looking for the cure said a lot. And she's been really quiet later, even Joel suspected smth was wrong. And her okay in the end obviously wasn't some kind of relief for neither her or the player, it's sounded kinda like 'you f*ckin' lying to me Joel, but i'm not gonna pressure you here'. Ashley Johnson says that Ellie's okay was "I know this is bullshit, but I'll go along with you, I accept it." Druckmann tho says that it's Ellie's realization that she can't rely on Joel anymore.

They faced life and death together. She certainly had to face the possibility of him dying between the end of Fall and through most of Winter in the first game. Also her struggle during the present day sections of Left Behind to find any medications in the abandoned mall.
The only reanimating moment that follows end of Winter was when she got really excited about the giraffes they saw on their way through the abandoned areas of Salt Lake City. She was able to find something to be happy about, to enjoy, and in doing so mirror an earlier experience on their way out of Boston months ago. All the same she seemed committed to seeing the find Fireflies through to its conclusion no matter.
Eventually we learn for ourselves that adults are fallible beings - they make decisions - for better - for worse - they can be honest - they can also lie - just like anyone else. It is more of a stunner if the adult is someone we bond with - someone we care about - it is a hard to wrap your head around lesson in life. Ellie ends up having to learn a lot of lessons on the road with Joel and some day Joel will be gone too.
Ultimately once it becomes clear that the Fireflies intend to use Ellie's condition to try to engineer a cure - of course any such cure would not benefit her because she's the only source of apparent immunity to the pandemic - it would potentially benefit countless others - on some level part of Ellie would go for this without hesitation because she believes in helping others despite her experience with David, with the losses of Henry and Sam, with everything she went through to get to Salt Lake City.
Joel however was not ready to lay down and let them do this - he's more concerned with losing her for the possibility of cure - not a certainty- not the possibility that ends with her dead and because of all the struggles they went through to get here along side the times where they could have died crossing the country.
Joel was also described as having few moral boundaries/thresholds left to cross in the 20 years since Sarah died by being shot dead because she might have been infected. We have no way of knowing if she was or was not - likewise Joel could have died that day if not for his brother Tommy.
Anyway on the upside I really enjoy that trailer scene where Ellie dances with Dina.
