This image has some wonderful light control. The only thing that bugs me is the specular highlight on the hat. Did you use a snoot or a grid to get the light that tight? Also, is that a reflector in the background?

I think I just used my regular soft box lighting. I didn't do anything specific to get a highlight on the hat. Yes, it's a reflector in the background. I could had edited it out, but decided I liked the way it looked.

That's pretty well controlled for a softbox. Can you remove the diffusion stock on the front of yours? That's the only way I can think to get such a tight light shape.
I like the reflector in the background. I was just looking at one of mine, which is the only reason I noticed it. Otherwise, it just looks like part of a wall or maybe some wrinkled seamless.

Yeah, but I also sometimes use an older kind of light, it's got a metal dome around it.
(As far as Technical stuff goes, I'm a noob, I just light my photographs based on what looks good to be honest.. and it's worked for me for 6 years lol)
I can't remember which one I used for this, but I'm pretty sure I used at least 1 soft box.
Actually if used right, sometimes different kind of reflectors can be placed in the background
and it ends up looking interesting.

Thank you! I don't really know her very well as this was my first time meeting her. But I can tell she's a really neat person. Oh and she has a beautiful voice. You should give her music a listen.
