What material you use for your sculptures?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Porcubird In reply to Felzm [2008-11-11 15:05:52 +0000 UTC]

Sculpey (a brand of clay) and then I paint it after it is hardened through baking using acrylic paint.

Do that material is a clay comercial? Yes, may be hard to paint it hardened.

That's a brilliant mew! Remeber that bit! I'm making a mew sculpture myself (need to paint on the eyes) but it's nowhere near as good as this! *faves*

Thank you! Glad you like it
It is difficult to explain how I make figures, because it is really a skill I've built over time through striving to make my figures better. So, you should try it and practice and improve, and you'll be able to make cool stuff too

Yes she is. Mew is tha most amazingfull ever. (yep! me!) You're really good at these figurines! This is the best just cause it's Mew. You even got the bubble's shape right and made it look shiny! She looks like she's sleeping her eyes look so peaceful and happy. Great job!!

And Mew does not belong to Nintendo. She's a free animal along with all the other Pokemon. We actually live in an alternate dimension. There are too many dimentions to count, all with different stuff in them. Stuff few believe exist.

btw, what's sculpey?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Porcubird In reply to freezeframer [2008-11-09 16:44:14 +0000 UTC]

Sculpey is a type of clay that is oily and very sculptable that you sculpt and then bake it to harden it.

Moongara In reply to Porcubird [2008-11-09 02:58:02 +0000 UTC]

Ah, two materials I am very familiar with. Its a great piece. Any wire or like armature underneath?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Porcubird In reply to Moongara [2008-11-09 03:22:53 +0000 UTC]

No, I haven't used wire in my clay sculptures as of yet, but if I make more complicated ones I might.
I'm glad you like it, Thank you

Moongara In reply to Porcubird [2008-11-09 14:41:38 +0000 UTC]

Wire frames can be really handy for bigger pieces.

Porcubird In reply to Moongara [2008-11-09 15:25:37 +0000 UTC]

So I've heard. I will most likely star experimenting with it soon...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Moongara In reply to Porcubird [2008-11-09 17:47:17 +0000 UTC]

Bit of advise for what its worth (given I have no sculptey work in my gallery), use a mix of fine (22-30 gauge is probably best) steel wire, copper isn't worth the money, since it will be hidden in tandem with toothpicks or bamboo skewers for legs and things. 14-20 gauge wire is best for other stuff, or if you don't want to use wood of any sort.

Looks really cute, though it looks like he's hugging a giant rutabaga or kidney... something. Though I guess it's hard to make something look bubbly when the material is opaque.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Porcubird In reply to Derranged [2008-11-09 01:16:48 +0000 UTC]

Not this one, but it's possible to make another.
However, I don't have a system for selling sculptures yet, besides at conventions...
So at the moment, no.
