Russian Cruiser Novik (1901)

A reconnaissance cruiser built for the Russian Pacific fleet, Novik was one of the fastest cruisers in the world when completed. She served in a diplomatic mission to Japan and later in the Battle of Port Arthur during the Russo-Japanese War. After the Battle of the Yellow Sea, Novik manage to escape Port Arthur into Tsingtao, sailing to Vladivostok, only to be be pursued by Japanese cruisers and forced into the Battle of Korsakov. Heavily damaged, Novik was scuttled by it's crew.
The Japanese managed to salvage the ship as the reconnaissance cruiser Suzuya, before advancements in radio technology made such ships obsolete, with the Suzuya being relegated to coastal defense in 1912 and scrapped in 1913.
