Yeah -- so, to re-iterate: trying to be clever when it comes to DS is a waste of time. The time spent being "clever" is more wisely spent perusing the documentation, especially regarding shaders and what can be done with the native scripting language (where I'd estimate 99.999% of all the stuff that's sold through their site originates; hey, I don't think I'm being too cynical when I feel like there's something a bit off about commercial software that's undocumented, where the (technical, often esoteric) docs are written by a person who simply doesn't speak English well enough to be writing such conceptual docs, and especially with the evident bare minimum (if even) of quality control)). Strange how, between major revisions of the software, the docs shrank from ~600 pages to less than 100 (even while the feature set was expanded). Anyway, I'll leave it at that; iif I keep going...well what's the point. Anyway -- take-home lesson: there's no point in getting clever when it comes to DS. If you want to be clever, learn the internals (whatever is published).

Ah yes -- I'll finish this comment with a famous proverb: nothing is ever as expensive as something given for free. (and to that, I'll add: "and the first one's free!") <---- Hahaha, and here I thought I was being clever. Meanwhile, a direct reading of this brilliant work puts its author somewhere between a "dumb-as-a-fsck" and "dumbest fsck that lived."
