I'd like to tell you this was a happy occasion, but both NIK, Jr. and I are in dreadful mood. NIK, of course, was heartbroken when he discovered sweet Ryan was having an affair with Madeline's husband. I don't know exactly how he constructed a version of Ryan that was virginal and innocent, but that's what young men do. And he did it hard. But even knowing Ryan wasn't perhaps the best person in the world didn't seem to keep him from imaging in that she'd one day look at him and see a future husband. Okay, let's be honest. NIK, Jr. is short. Like 1.7 m at most. He's kind of pudgy. He wears one of those black denim trench coats and has a sad beard. This is a man who—and, I'm sorry, but while lookist, this is largely true—ends up with a woman with poor dental care and a decided lack of contemporary fashion sense. But despite that, he thought, Ryan, she's the one! And, again, honesty time: of course, because, look at Ryan!

And then there's me. I know that up until Ryan came along, Madeline was madly in love with her husband, who is good looking, funny, smart, and isn't threatened by the fact that Madeline is even twice as smart. And that Madeline also has a complicated, quasi-romantic, sometimes sexual relationship with her BFF, Skye. Read: The Cubs will win the World Series and a totally incompetent man who openly brags about sexually assaulting women will become the president of the US before Madeline would even think of kissing me. But, wait, I hear you say, all that happened! So maybe I'm not as delusional as NIK, Jr.

So NIK and I are kind of biding our time, waiting for the women we secretly love to realize that we are the people they should be with. Because we're special people, worthy of love. Really worthy of love by these exact women. Come on, don't look at me like that. You're in love with Madeline, too, or your defective. Sorry. I'm just being honest.

We do this shoot. It was going to be something else. I'd hoped that the tension between Madeline and Ryan would lead to a funny argument, or something good. But it lead to this. I'm crushed. If Madeline had gone to Skye, I would have been happy for her. Skye is perfect. Nobody can compare. But Ryan, the child who ruined her marriage? I'm sorry, but NO! Worst day ever.

Daz scouted the location and took care of wardrobe. Iray did her lighting. God, what do I care? I'm going to go have a drink. Or a dozen. Photoshop did her magic. Lots of work, good work. Nice job Photoshop. Yeah, Photoshop is upset, too. I told you, everybody is in love with Madeline. Sorry, Photoshop, I didn't mean to tell the world. NIK, Jr., did some nice work and didn't get any tears on the prints, although…I think I need to get him a Xanax or something. Dude, really, I know this hurts. I really, really understand, but… sigh.
