by the way , have you made any works in that new udk unreal 3, I think the manson would be fun too may in it, I am downloading 2012 01 beta level editor to play with not sure I can made much in it yet myself, also I think the new udk could make a great day of the tentacle fan mode engine maybe, with cool landscape effects, or maniac mansion map too would be cool in unreal 3 engine that new udk free download program would be great too do projects in it if you got the free time too do so that is

I haven't ever used maxwell, just the default maya renders myself in school, since they don't really use maxwell render in my college, so is it a free render plugin or software outside of maya?

it's a full fledged plugin,it works really well as a component from maya and even standalone

which version of maya did you use, I got myself the normal student maya 2012 version for me since I am a college student and its for free , for my school uses and stuff like that, I still am learning with my mastering maya 2009 book, working with maya and maybe going to use udk , unreal 3 level editor for stuff, with that fbx plugin which helps load stuff in the game editor, if your wondering how to get models from maya to unreal 3 development editor, I play with one of the unreal 1 level editors before and also unreal 2 which I still own and play once and while , I also played ut2004 which still runs after all these years.

I used an old version of maya...the version it's not a big matter, from maya 8 there were not so many critical change in the modeling feature (apart for the smooth preview and soft modifier transform)

I think maybe he or she used autodesk maya to do this but I could be wrong, maybe the models was done in autodesk maya ?? which version I don't no, if your a student thou you can get access to any autodesk software for free now, they even have autodesk maya 2012 out for students at this website , the light and rending effects I think he used something else to do them than maya but thats my guess
students.autodesk.com
all you need to do is fill out a free login setup like this website, and list your college school, or other I think so, In any case I go to college so I selected my school, you get all the software you can download for free if your a student of course their are rules like you can't use it for making money off your own work etc.. the basic's you can read about their in any case at that website address

I agree lucas arts should go back to doing either point and click games like these 2d or 3d, the graphics of these dos games are so old now, they look their age, and they are killing star wars be it 3D movies or the game spin offs, I seen so much star wars I am getting sick of star wars based lucas arts stuff, either on tv, or new games that are more shoot and kill than think of how to interact and puzzle you, they just are too simple to the point games, I like that fact that someone made 3D sam & max games even thou their plots are not too my liking, or the new back to the future game by the same company that did the sam & max ones
