I think this picture is so beautiful, and I wouldn't mind following the forest path. I like how you've painted the forest in dark tones without making it creepy in any way - instead I think the forest seems very quiet and peaceful.

I hadn't considered that but yes! I will confess to an admiration of all Miyazaki artwork. This place is for real and I guess it has a mysterious quality to it that grabbed my attention

this is amazing, did you use some photos as refence or is this just a memory painting ?

It was a combination actually - often I will do some studies in pencil or P/shop based only on memory or impressions of the place, and then I will study some photo reference to reconcile some of the logistics.
That way I can retain more of an intuitive interpretation of the place.

Channel that energy! The more you practice the better you get (that philosophy seems to work for me) I'm an old(er) fart and have years of fumbling and false starts behind me.
