Here's Spike from Post Crusade. (AKA, 3 years from present time)There's a few thing that are different with him.
For starters, there's the bandages. He has them because of his wings that are slowly, and painfully, beginning to grow out.
The continuous pain has made him cranky and slightly lazy.
But because he is held up in a library, he has taken reading more seriously. Especially philosophy and mythology.
One of his favorite books is The Library, according to the King written by multiple authors over many centuries. It contains many fantastic and controversial legends of other beings.

A better question is, why the hell am I even doing PC? I ask myself that every time I jot down an idea. Depression, corruption, sex, and pure WTF. It pretty much goes against what MLP is all about! And yet I go on. Seriously, I gave EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER a problem that negatively impacts them! I really don't know.
(To answer your question, I kinda based him on this badass who goes to my school. He's a fan.
And it also ties to his and Sweetie's failed relationship. Karma? Or the punishment for being a greedy dragon? Maybe it will affect future events.)

All their misfortune makes me cry. The most fortunate of the group seems to be Apple Bloom, and she gets absolutely no screen time!!! Next closest is Sweetie Belle and she gets very little screen time.
If I may make a suggestion. Round out the cast a bit, and kill off Pip.

The sad thing is all three of them have negative aspects. IMO, Apple Bloom has the worst of them all. There's a reason that she has little screen time and I'll be unfolding that soon.

Also, when I first saw this in my messages folder, I didn't notice the bandages, so I was like, "Spike doesn't look any different..." but then I saw it and the description and was like, "Oh, never mind."

How long will it take for him to develop wings plus in "the secrect to my excess" why didn't he have wings there?

Dragon growth and age is tricky to calculate and the exact process not very well known. From what we saw in "Excess", dragons can experience rapid bursts of growth due to greed. But the wings are determined by age, not size. A dragon may stand at 1000 feet tall, but be only 12 years old, thus having no wings. Spike did not age, so he did not grow wings.
Wings appear at the relative age of 13 to 16. They may take up to hundred years before reaching full power and size.
In the show, he's referred to as a baby dragon. The infantile stage of growth lasts between 0-14 years, or when the wings begin to grow. Now, it would be politically incorrect to say he's a baby. Officially, the term is juvenile.
Spike in PC is 13 years old and turns 14 in December.

Will he have a emotional change as well after the wings? And will he be like some the other dragons in dragon quest who show more of a juvinile personality?
