I want in. NOW. If it is at a cemetery it may have just been where all the records were kept, they have to record every body in the yard. Or a crematorium, but there would probably be evidence of that around. Hmmm...only one way to find out though. GET IN THERE SON (but don't die)

It COULD be a receiving vault from back in the day. Before the invention of backhoes, there wasn't any way to dig graves in frozen ground. If a vault, it is quite an elaborately decorated one.

Very old churches that were built when towns were young tended to be small. But also like Theriom-Rasputin said, it could be a crematorium. For sure it's a building that was used; it's got a door.
