I'll confess that I'm disinterested in Undertale in general, but why would Robot Jones be Mettaton? Sure, they're both robots, but other than that they couldn't be further apart.

It's alright, I'm just a bit annoyed how Robot always gets lumped into every "replace X character with Y character" crossover ever as the robot, regardless of whether or not his personality and role in the narrative actually matches that of the robotic character he's replacing. He's actually a very interesting character in his own right, more so than Mettaton I'd argue.
Although if you were set on using a WHtRJ character as a stand-in for Mettaton, Finkman would be a good choice.
