Description A sketch of a “camel back” locomotive. A type of steam engine that was peculiar to the U.S., specifically the north eastern states. These locomotives were built to burn waste anthracite coal, a very hard slow burning coal which necessitates a very large fire to run a locomotive. The firebox at the rear of the locomotive was enlarged so much that the engineer’s cab had to be moved ahead of it to fit.

Something about both the perspective and the actual lineart really drew me to this picture. Typical 4-6-0 Camelback, but practically a 3D model with the shadow and all.
