Just messing around with SAI. One day I will unlock its secrets.Anyway I had an idea where these people have these sort of bio-mechanical tails. The tail plugs into the end of the spinal cord, and so it's kind of like an extension cord for the nervous system. Then the end of the tail can be plugged into a mecha or a space ship or whatever - and basically whatever machine they're controlling becomes an extension of their own body. Each machine has a nervous system so to speak.

Does the nervous system work both ways? If the machine is damaged, does the pilot feel physical pain as a result?

Of course. Although I would think that they'd engineer it to be perceived differently. But the pilot would know what part was damaged and in what way.

Yess, I was wondering about that too considering how sensitive the spine is and all those pesky nerves. I guess a bit of coding goes a long way!
I can't help but think that there could be some horrible event where so much damage is sustained to the vessel that it overrides/malfunctions the connection between pilot and mecha and have some horrid consequences.
