The blade could extend and collapse via magnetic switch a few electro magnets in Eagles gloves would do the trick

Eagle has something like that but for his weapon he might have to use his sword without his helmet.

Aron Skyworthy/Eagle does not entirely depend on his tech . while he handily exploits technology everythin on his armor can be operated manually
in full manual mode his flight armors comtrol surfaces are controled by Eagles feet Β and the throttle through the position of his legs thus leaving his arms free to do whatever he needs to do he rarely turns control of his flight armor to the computer
