I still think the outcome would have been the same.
One of their societal mainstays seems to be hierarchy, and doing anything possible to prove oneself better--or more capable--than other Yeerks (something which may stem from limited numbers of host bodies on their homeworld and elsewhere). The technology that Seerow provided was an enabler...enabling the Yeerks to shrug off their homeworld in search of new bodies that they could use. True, they could have used Andalite tech to create their own bodies, but since we don't have any evidence of it, it's logical to conclude that they couldn't build them for some reason (or that the Andalites never developed such tech). For a bunch of slugs without a homeworld, metallic resources would be limited, and probably used exclusively to build ships and infrastructure to further their plans.
I'm certain that had the Yeerks conquered Earth and taken out the Andalite homeworld, they would have had plenty of time, resources, and planets to harvest, and robotic bodies might have become a thing.
Or, with billions of bodies at their disposal, they would have just continued breeding Andalites and Hork-bajir because they could do it faster and with less stuff.
Now, if we're talking robot exoskeletons or whatnot created by Seero...I can see why he didn't. Slugs, even parasitic ones, seem harmless when compared to slug-driven mechas.
This idea must be explored.

It seemed to me that the Yeerks were pretty much stone age when Seerow arrived. Which means that he was criminally irresponsible in every way, and gave them a culture based almost entirely upon well-founded resentment just because he couldn't be bothered to uplift them fully.

That's the rub, isn't it? It would seem that he was irresponsible, as his society judged him as such, but I also understand why he felt sorry for the Yeerks. He thought they would be grateful for the knowledge, but instead it just made them want more and more.

Yeah, but I feel like if he was really sorry for them he'd have given them some way of going out into the world without needing to conquer. Half-measure are the worst of both worlds

Technically, it's not from any of the books, though I was inspired by the ending of book #34 "The Prophecy"

Some where in the Book " the Hork-bajir Chronicles" these two shared a moment like this after the first half of that book.

This is one of those amazing and rare cases where the style is so simple, so pure, that the emotion speaks greater than anything possible. I'm amazed that you made something as emotionally limited as a Hork Bajir look so heartbroken. Lately I've just become such a big Dak & Aldrea fan. You should be proud and don't feel so sad. Cheer up.

Thanks! In hindsight, they do look peaceful. When I first made the image, though, I was going through a massive bout of depression, and I saw it then as more of a despair-themed piece.

Indeed. I can't imagine how they would feel. Dak loosing his race to both the Yeerks and Andalites and Aldrea loosing her family (and her race as well). They have a lot in common in that respect.

Yeah, they are the most pitted against in the Animorphs series. What I find to be offensive was when Ax acted like Aldrea was a traitor in book #34 The Prophicy when she prevented the destruction of the hork-bajir. And he is just the same about the humans as she was for the hork-bajir.

I was originally planning for it to be a bit more chipper and lovey-dovey when I first started coloring. On the day that I started the photoshop work, however, I was so bogged down by depression that it ended up becoming as morbid as you see it.
Funny, I hadn't really thought about that book when I did this. You're right, though; it really seems to fit.

lol i thought of when she was in the Hork-Bajir Chronicles, but i ironically pictured her as a Hork-Bajir during the last months or year (since she had his baby)so it didnt fit to well in my head xD

I may draw something to that end once I get caught up on my commission work. Her residual self image by that point probably would've been Hork-bajir more than it would've been Andalite.

huh, it's possible..since when she gave the Arn her DNA for the process i think she was in her Hork-Bajir form.
But I'm a sucker for Andalites XD so i'll stick by my choice.lol

I didnt even know what to say about this for awhile. I really like how tender it is and how you applied the shadows and the light. The pose is great too, they look like one. I also like that its hard to see the original linart. Its a whole piece instead of lines you colored in. I kinda wish you could see his other hand, since you have some reflected light hitting the bottom of his arm, but that's only a minor opinion. Otherwise, Great job! I really love the color and the way his neck kinda cradles her head.
argh. There's a novel for you.
