Is thost a term you came up with for them?

I totally understand. I use three terms for the range, though they're far more generic (buymecha, pleasurebot and courtesan).
Does thost mean anything in any language, or is it letters you strung together than sounded right to you?

Neat-o. Those words are a lot easier to spell than some of the stuff I've come up with for my headverse. X3
No, they're not based off any existing language. When I came up with the word "thost," I wanted something that was distinctly alien, but short and harsh enough to make a good curse word. Others are a more complicated, especially if they're trying to convey something abstract or conceptual. In my fanfic, my OC Io uses the word/phrase tre'strixini'th'a'an when conversing with Ratchet...an older word/phrase used to describe 'Bots that refused to fully accept the caste system...and the possible punishments such deviancy might mean for the offending 'Bot.
I imagine their language to be very complex and difficult for organic critters to pronounce given their more limited vocal components.
In all cases where their language comes into play, I try to create a word/phrase that captures all of this...but also sets a certain tone that reflects the tone defined by the concept.
I hope that makes sense, lol. X3

This is a really amazing piece, displaying the darker aspects of Cybertronian "underground" culture. Typically not something explored in Transformers. I like it!

This looks great, Prax! Your line art is beautiful with crispness and wonderful weight, and you've just added so much detail. I love those curves of his chest down along his waist, too; it just looks so darn perfect. XD
I'm curious what you used to ink it and what kinda paper you used? This must have taken you a long while, but it was so worth it!

Thanks for the comment, Owl; it really means a lot.
I've gotten more comfortable with drawing mechs, and details make them look more robotic and less like humans wearing boxy clothing (which is how my TF drawings started out as, at least IMO). So the more details the better. I usually have references of planes and cars nearby so that I can add kibble and whatnot befitting of their altmodes.
I was going for a sexy and "seductive" pose for the image, and it came out better than I could have hoped. I can only imagine what my colleagues thought about be while I was drawing it. X3
I started sketching this during a meeting at school. It was required that I attend, though it wasn't necessary given that I'd already been teaching at the school for five years. So, I set myself up at a back table, and started sketching on the back of the program that they had given us, an 8x11" piece of computer paper. Unfortunately, there were words and logos on the front side, and I had to do a lot of editing in Photoshop to get it white and crisp like you see it, basically adjust the levels to remove as much of the midtones that I possibly could, then sampled the background color and created a layer on top of the lineart where I removed the remaining blemishes. I didn't get them all; if you look closely you can still see some of the pencil marks that didn't erase well. I can post a copy of the original lineart, before the tweaking if you're interested.
Normally I do all my drawings on thick cardstock. (nothing fancy, just generic cardstock from the local Target--it's the stuff that people print buisness cards on, usually; just not the glossy variety). It cleans up a lot better and rarely wrinkles when you erase. For the lines, I use prismacolor fine-lines, though I need to get a new set, this one is drying out on me.

You're very welcome. c:
I can understand that; mechanical things are great, but when you're trying to come up with your own creative designs for them, it can be real tricky if it's not something you do a lot of at first. Though I guess that could technically be said about anything people draw. It just shows your dedication and passion for the subject when your comfort level goes up! And he certainly looks sexy! If your colleagues thought anything less, they just can't handle the hotness, lol.
I'd say "Sounds like Prax needs a sketchbook.", but for all I know, you already had one, just not with you at the time you needed it. XD I'd be interested in seeing the original, too though I noticed that this submission is an updated replacement of your previous image? So I am not sure if it is the same one you're talking about now that I had already seen? Regardless, you did a wonderful job editing because I would have never guessed it was simply pencil with PS editing. I'm almost never happy with my PS edits of my line art if they were only done in pencil, yet I'm so fidgety with inking that I don't always do it, either.
I'd have to compare the cardstock sold in places like Target with the kind I picked up at my old go-to art store (they moved locations to downtown so it's now extremely out of my way to pick up traditional art supplies. The only other place around is Pat Catans, and their professional art supplies section is a frickin messy disgrace so I only go there now if I am really desperate). I don't like using cardstock though since I don't like the way my microns and markers feel on it with the more textured surface - it also seems to drain my markers faster than the Smooth Bristol I prefer these days. I need to look into these prismacolor fine liners, though. I've been looking for some good colored inking pens and have debated between micron, copic, and my trusted prismacolor brand. It's just a pain in the ass now to get supplies so I'm gonna have to start buying online... OTL.

They say that sketching actually helps your ability to retain information by keeping your brain engaged (when it would otherwise be zoning out from boredom). Who knew, eh?
Lol, indeed!
