I feel I have to write about it, because I will spill human remains onto the floor and become a wet stain of sadness and regret.

Character Sheet is a board with a character design. It takes me about 8 hours to make it. AI - couple of minutes.
Well, it is generally about a real threat that people underestimate. I'm afraid of only one or two of them. One is related to climate change and the other is the slow takeover of control by artificial intelligence. Sounds like a sci-fi movie? Not necessarily. It has already hit my field of computer graphics. AI is a new technology. It creates images generated by a computer that learned all the drawings from the internet (without permission) in a matter of moments and creates something on the principle of art.
But it's not art because it's a generated image that is seemingly a clever combination of human-created works. Yet that's what it's called. It looks great, mixes artist styles and does it all based on a text description. So you describe the character and you get a great design, original and perfectly made, without errors. It's all half free. AI is not yet developed enough to manage without minimal human editing. Not yet.

Some call it progress and don't get me wrong, I was always learning new programs, using new tools, switched from traditional to digital and reversed, I am a wife of doctor in physics who actually specializes in computer physics innovation, I visit museums and learn so I'm no ignorant who rants because something is being taken away from my comfy life. BUT:It's not about the development of technology, it's about technology that rushes without limits, lines and without any barricades and above all without human control. And people don't see the problem because YES. IS. COMFORTABLE. AND. EASY

Recently, one of the more famous manga artists, Kim Jung Gi, passed away. Some French motherfucker who is now afraid to give his real name (and rightly so) under the pseudonym 5you fed the AI with the works of the deceased and now any user can create images using his style. Jung Gi fans are so outraged that 5You receives death threats for wrongfully wasting the artist's legacy.

Ai is not art- or at least not yours. It’s actually the biggest art theft that has ever been made. In a century where we care abou copyrights so much that if you record a video with a know music somewhere in the bacgroud it is immedietely taken off, how did this hapoen that bunch of people fed AI with most of professional art stolem from the internet?

A new, improved work tool, such as a new program or digitization in general, is something else - where images are still drawn by hand. A graphic tablet or a few program options may prove useful and facilitate work, but they do not create for us, they are only a tool. Do you appreciate traced art or photomanipulation same as digital art made freehand? Is this the same thing?

AI images have already flooded DA, instagram, Pinterest and it is impossible to distinguish them from a very good picture painted by someone who gave his life to learn it for years. Within 3 weeks, more than half a million such images appeared on various social media.

By what right did the algorithm take advantage of the works and paintings made by other artists from around the world? I did not consent to it, nor did any other artist, because no one was asked for permission. We live in copyright era where even a video recorded somewhere cannot contain known music in a background and it is obvious for us. So as you cannot create photomanipulation with photography that you dont have license for, or that you can't take someones art, add three dots and claim its yours. Musicians get royalities for their songs being played, as they should. Now it is slowly starting to be regulated, for example, there is an obligation to put a signature that the image is generated and not painted. Just so what? Who cares? It took 3 weeks for Deviantart, Instagram, Pinterest to be flooded with AI-created works that are indistinguishable from high-end graphics and I doubt anyone checks tags or cares. No, the consumer does not care, the consumer wants cheap and good. And he will get it.

The only way it's at least a little fair is when you feed AI with your own work or purchased licensed work. (so as if you want to use a music to your videos, you don't simply take Lady Gaga's or other musician song, but you buy a license or choose available music. because artists don't necessarily have to agree to use their music in reels or private videos or in supermarket commercials, or their songs being changed and manipulated and called a new original ones) I still am not a fan of computer being able to learn, but it at least would be fair.

You want to create a comic in easy way? you have as tory but no money to hire artists and you think AI is a perfect tool? Yes, for you it's helpful in that case but first of all, your story will dissapear among billions of other stories since it will be so easy to achieve, (same happened with books, people stopped reading not because of technology procgress but because everyone can write a book and to find a good one you have to search forever, so it's easy to leave it and watch series on netflix) Comming back to your comic, you think you have a great tool, unfortunetly Algorythm can read all the books around in free libraries and create stories according to this base of knownledge and people's opinion; what they like and how they rate it, so you wont be able create a better story then computer will. Music soundtrack? same thing. You will not be needed anymore to create anything because we as humanity have already sufficient base to teach computer everything

Question 1 - why study? If the computer can do it better? To understand the theory of colors, to know how to draw light, I had to think for 30 years, practice, observe and investigate. AI has no problem with that - it doesn't make mistakes. BECAUSE IT'S A FUCKING COMPUTER!
The question then is what is the value of design, image, graphics? People are already selling character designs for $4 with tiny "ai art" written on the bottom. Who cares if it's a stolen thing? Everyone has this lousy desire to possess, no matter which way.

This is one problem, the other is the easy achievability of something that was unattainable for most people. If everyone could create a painting or design better than the original art in a few minutes, what would be the value of that creation? The character generated in this way will be in some way original because it is made of patches of what is already known and yet new. But that's what artists do all their lives, they learn by watching better people and combine what they already know with something new.

In the same way, a computer can create music by itself, knowing the rules of combining notes and using all the songs it found on the Internet - that is, all that have been created, an algorithm is enough and a human being will no longer be needed to create art. In addition to the fact that programmers are just losing their jobs and there is a huge row across the ocean because of this and the first lawsuits relating to copyright infringement are coming in.

Now I remember how unnecessarily distanced I was from copyright myself. I thought that people exaggerated, that if someone traced my lineart, the world would not collapse. In general, I consider myself very tolerant in terms of copyright, I let others earn money from my bases or poses. But it's my decision. The only thing I never agreed to was anyone signing my drawings with their name without my consent or selling them in an unchanged form.

What then will happen to the creators in general?

Can AI be called art at all? Since the image is computer generated? Well no. Just so what? Who cares what it's called if it's great and eagerly watched? And popular? Who cares if filtered photos don't show reality? We pretend they do. No one hates selfie-photos with big eyes and pouty lips, because we seem to miss the fact that we maneuver ourselves and others into a lie, but its rather phylosophical problem

For the last 15 years, I've been writing tutorials in English and racking my brains over grammar with every sentence. But I was writing, thinking and learning. Today it's easier for me to write in Polish and put it in google translate because I don't have time, because the effect is better, google translate knows more synonyms than I do and makes less mistakes. My only task is to know the language well enough to catch some horrendous error and correct it in the translation. So why waste time and break your head with a foreign language? So, in effect, I stop learning and hand over my work to the machine, which will do it for me.

And it's all because of our laziness. Who wants to learn? When was it that learning was a privilege and not a punishment? Learning is a long and tiring process, Who needs math if the calculator counts? Why know how to write by hand when all you need is a thumb and a button or a recording is enough. People use computers without knowing anything about them, without knowing how they work.

And so a man will become more and more stupid and, what's worse, many don't see the problem at all and a subtle difference between development of technology and letting computers crossing the line. I have written about it more than once that I cannot accept the fall of authority in general. What will be the value of long-term work now? Everyone wants to be beautiful, smart, liked, appreciated, the truth can be achieved after years and a lie in a moment. We can fake it all,we can put filters on a photo, we can easily create illusions of skills. When the world loses its value, there will be a pandemic of depression, because it is impossible to cheat yourself for whole life.
