SHERWOOD FOREVER

Submitted as an entry to the "Ancient Realms" contest held by ellygator

To borrow a tagline from 1991's ROBIN HOOD - PRINCE OF THIEVES, this is a time when upholding justice meant breaking the law. The theme is a timeless one. In every era, in every society, there are unjust laws and those who abuse the authority entrusted to them by the people. When this happens, the duly-appointed custodians of society must be challenged and defied by champions who fight to defend the common people. Whether they fight from inside the system or from outside the law--as outlaws--they become folk heroes to the masses. Robin Hood in legend is probably a lot nicer than the Robin Hood who first picked up his sword or his bow, robbing the rich to give to the poor and defending ladies against villainy and peril, but he is an ideal and an archetype: the noble bandit.
