Description
A scarecrow king. About 15" including tree and base.You can't see very well in the photo, but he has lots of very delicate stitching over his face/eyes/mouth/nose and his hat. I used an English beading needle and silk filaments, which was pretty much like trying to sew with a cat whisker threaded with spider webbing.
I really enjoyed making him, so now he has lots of friends on the way- golems, constructs, clockwork beasties and a small army of living poppets...

The tree is made from lots of twisted wire coated with a metal primer, epoxy and paperclay, and paint... The walkway is made from miniature scale modellers bricks.

I never thought of using tea in the base material, what a great idea! The stuff I used was a gritty paint medium (stucco paste, I think it's called) painted greenish-brown and covered with flocking grass and paper leaves. The tall grass is un-twisted sisal twine.
I'm definitely gonna mix some tea in there next time I make a natural setting, thanks for the tip.
