Once thought to be an illness suffered by hatchlings at random, in recent years it's become apparent that this strange trait is, in fact, a MARKING! Always sickly black, it often makes owners fear that their hatchlings have a dead limb or rotten flesh. This marking often turns the veins under the dragons skin black as well as darkening the head, tail and chest with an infectious stain. Not only does this marking blacken the base coat where it touches but it also leaves the coat pale and sickly where it doesn't stain black. The horns on the head of the dragon always turn coal black, loosing all color that may lurk underneath. The eyes of the dragon are also impacted by this color and loose their color, turning a sickly milky color that makes one think the dragon is blind (even though they CAN in fact see)
While this marking doesn't put out a glow per say, it does seem to dim the light around the areas where it is most concentrated like the tail, head and feet. The concentration of corruption simply devoids the area of light and thus, appears to give off a 'dark glow'.
Corruption is a recessive trait meaning that it's only expressed when a dragon inherits two copies of the gene. A dragon who inherits only 1 copy of the corruption gene will be known as a 'carrier'.
Rules of Corruption:
*The Black markings of Corruption hides anything it touches! Base coat, markings, etc Nothing shows through!
*Horns always turn black, claws and back spines may as well.
* Eyes always become milky and desaturated!
* Veins of the dragon often become more noticeable as they blacken from high concentrations of this marking.
