Description
Fact: Not every opinion I have is fact. I can handle that.
Fact: My facts are only as correct as my knowledge, resources, sources, and experiences lead me to believe I am. (That said, I cram my brain with as much info as possible to increase my odds of being correct, or at least closer to being correct than I was before.)
Fact: Not every fact is my opinion. Therefore, to say I should follow a fact with a "that statement you just made should end with an 'in my opinion'..." is, well, YOUR opinion.
Fact: I do not like every fact. In the unlikely event that I should ever get hit by a meteor...my body being blown into iddy-biddy bits so small you couldn't see them…I would most certainly die. Do I like it? Nope. Is it fact? Yessir.
At one point, I would apologize to someone if I stated a fact they thought was opinion, especially a fact that "hurt their feelings". I figured at the time, no harm, no foul...but then realized, maybe I was just leading to future harm by leaving them in ignorance. So, I figured I got tired of lying to people, so I give it to them straight. I cannot be responasable for your fate, but I can at least go with a clear conscious knowing I at least told the truth.
Opinion: There is, of course, a time to lie. When someone is out to kill someone you care for, it would probably be best if you pretended you didn't know where said potential victim was. This is not the time for truth. However, there a certain things that are probably best told. For example: you may want to let that poor kid know who is on his way to an interview to zip up his un-zipped zipper after he comes out of the restroom. It can be done discreetly: no need to draw attention to the rest of the people nearby. I would want someone to do the same for me.
Fact: What you do with the knowledge I pass on to you is your own decision, not mine.
