Lyra had lived her whole life with her single father, otherwise known as Leon. He had been a Chef for a local inn where she'd lived in Rettub, Rusborro, and would bring her to work with him most days. Her dreams grew as he taught her the beauties and the secrets of cooking. It could bring colour, smiles, and full stomachs to all. She wanted, more than anything to follow in the footsteps of her father and so, began to learn from him; different dishes and how to use what you have to keep yourself fed. Her skill grew even past her father's death, as she continued to cook.

After seeing a flier she noticed that spots had been opened on a ship called "The Embassy". She knew that if she didn't take the opportunity, it wouldn't come around again. It sounded wonderful to travel, and cooking to feed people who could quite possibly become her friends sounded like an ideal way to live. She'd ended up being recruited onto the ship by Ran after taking her some samples of her cooking.
