If a predator is spotted in the caves, Raudh's first urge is to charge and try to drive off the beast by himself, not to call guards or the like. In his youngest years, he was also swift to try and fight other young fawns at the slightest disagreement; his avoidance of others mostly curbs this one now, but his nature still remains.

Aoibhe - "Strained", to put it gently. He avoids the domineering, sharp doe, though he retains the same swearing habit she has. As to her opinion of him, he is disappointing.

Appearance:

Compact, and well muscled, Ruadh is unusually heavy build for a Oakfern. His flanks bear heavy scarring on one side, and more scattered scars pepper his body elsewhere, a result of charging predators, and scuffles. A scraggly, groomed beard hangs under his chin and lines his jaw; perhaps the most recognizable feature of the buck in dim lighting. There is some feathering just above his hooves, and his antlers, curved back low over his head, are sharp despite this. Often there is a rat resting in his antlers or on his back.

History:

Born to a medium built doe, Aoibhe. His mother was not publically mated to any stag in the herd, and all of the stags heavier built like the stocky buck she'd born, where monogamously mated in the herd. Disliking and suspicious murmurs of the doe and her fawn drifted about the herd; no stag had claimed the boy, and Aoibhe made no claim of who Ruadh's sire was. Just as well, the fawn seemed to have no talent or grasping of magic, while his peers easily boosted of little feats they'd managed - hard as he might try, in his youth the magic would not come.

In mimicry of their parents, it wasn't long before young Ruadh was taunted and teased by other fawns his age; echoing what their parents muttered, implying that the stag that had sired Ruadh was of those other herds. After all, Ruadh was thickly built for a oakfern fawn, and all the stags in the herd of a similar build were sworn to specific does - and not a trickle of magic to be seen. Ruadh rejected this, scuffling with other buck fawns over the matter fiercely; but when he went back to his mother, he pressed her for information.

Aoibhe sharply rejected the notion that Ruadh's sire was anything but Oakfern;

"If you'd been the siring of some Oathbreaker, I'd have had them give you to Gealach on the Full Moon, boy. Do not question your mother."

The next time the Full Moon sacrifices occurred, Ruadh paid attention; and felt a twist in his gut. His mother would have so easily given him to die, her own get, if his sire had been an Oathbreaker...

Ruadh begged his mother that they not go to the next, - he could not help to imagine himself in place of those fawns now- only to be scolded; "You would shame ME, shame US before Gealach?"

He made no more protests to his mother, but as he grew, Ruadh found himself more and more tangled in internal questions, and doubt; If Gealach was a just god, would he not wish them to punish the adult Oathbreakers, and not the unknowing fawns they bore? Were oathbreaker fawns born so impure they could not be led into the way of Gealach if they were stolen young? He spoke none of this to others; he knew better; but in his mind, Gealach could not be a kind creature to worship- he was a god that asked too much.

Ruadh does his best to remain seeming unremarkable, and too ornery to bother pursuing in friendship as much as he can. For the moment, he manages and tends to rats- both for his own companionship, and as not to appear totally useless. He attends every event, every Full Moon's sacrifice as he should; but the stag has plans that none know of. Once he is ready, he plans to leave Oakfern, and Gealach behind.
