Description
Kaiba's fingers pounded on the already much abused laptop. Diagrams, documents, charts, graphs, analysis, all appeared on the screen, were tweaked a bit, then send back into the silent world of solitude, where they would stay until the council meeting today.Â
"Class," the teacher said, ten minutes after the bell had rang. He ignored her and continued on with his work. "Today we have two new students."
This earn a swift glance from the busy CEO. Two new students, that was odd.Â
"They are from overseas, America." The teacher continued. Kabia turned back to his work, not needing to know anymore. Work was more important.Â
"You can come in now," the teacher called. He could hear the door opened and the footsteps of two people. A hush of excitement fell over the class.Â
"They're twins," Someone finally said, breaking the silence. Gossip soon traveled around the class before the two had even spoken a word.Â
Kabia glanced up again and saw that, indeed, they were twins, identical twins. Both had dark, chocolate brown eyes, tall, lean, and tan bodies, and blonde locks that looked as though they had payed someone to screw up, or had a fight with a bear.Â
"Can you tell us your names?" The teacher asked of the twins.Â
"I'm Jounouchi," the one on the right said.Â
"And I'm Joey," the one on the left said.Â
"Katsuya," they said together. "We're sixteen years old and decided to come to Japan to spend some time with our father while our mother stays in America!"
They're unison was so perfect Kaabia found himself wondering if they had rehearsed this. As the teacher told a bit more about them the left one, Joey, began to look around the room. The smile plaster on his face was fake, a pretty convincing fake, but still a fake. It didn't hold a candle to the sweet smile of his brother. For some reason that made Kabia like Joey more. Kabia looked down and began typing again.Â
"Joey, Jounouchi, how about you go sit in the back, next to Kabia." the teacher said.Â
Kabia looked up, meaning to glare, but instead found Joey's chocolate eyes watching him. His usual mask of discontent fell to reveal a face of childish shock, complete with the wide eyes blinking rapidly twice and the small O of shock that shaped his mouth. Joey suddenly flashed him a smile, a real smile that was sprinkled in a splatter of giggles at Kabia's shocked face.Â
Kaiba quickly regained his mask and began working at a even more furious past. He ignored the two who came and sat down to his right. With a smallest of peeks he saw that Joey was the one sitting next to him. Though he tried to bring of feelings of distain he couldn't, instead he felt something utterly new that scared him, a sort of warmness to Joey.Â
Kabia shook his head. No, he was not going to be nice to some stupid kid from America!!!! Not now, not ever!
Kabia refused to look up from his computer, even when the teacher had started their lesson. he already knew everything there was to know. The only reason he was at school was because the law require it. So instead, he worked on his presentation, doing a much better job on it than he normally would of.Â
Joey glanced at the boy to his left. Kabia was his name. Joey could remember the cute look of shock that he saw before, but now that seemed buried behind a wall. Joey wondered what Kabia was hiding behind that wall. Since Kabia never looked up from his laptop Joey was safe to stare at him an try to figure him out. Kabia was like an intricate puzzle. Joey loved puzzles, though school was a no no, and so far this boy was the most amazing puzzle he had ever seen.Â
When the lunch bell rang Kabia stayed in his seat, planning to work through lunch again.Â
"Aren't you going to lunch?" Joey asked. Kabia looked up at the blonde.Â
"No," he said curtly, turing back to his computer. "I have more important things to do." he lied. In fact his presentation was complete and absolutely perfect. he just didn't want to hang around that boy.Â
"Alright," Joey said with a shrug. "If you're sure."Â
Kabia ignored him and Joey left with his twin. He sighed and placed his head down on the keyboard, ignoring the sounds of protest coming from computer. Why did those twins have to come here? Even though he couldn't say what was wrong with the twins he wanted them gone. Mostly Joey though.Â
"Hey," Yugi called to the twins. "You want to eat with us?"Â
"Come on Joey," Jounouchi said. "Let's go eat with them."Â
"Okay," Joey smiled back at his twin. "Whatever you want."
The twins grabbed their lunches and walked over to where the boy and his friends were.Â
"Hey," they said at the same time when they sat down next to the tricolored hair boy who had called them over.Â
"Hi," the group responded, using their own versions of greeting.Â
"I'm Yugi," the boy next to them said. "And this is Tristan, Yami, Anzu, Ryou, and Malik." he gestured to each person in turn.Â
The twins smiled and nodded at each person in turn.Â
"Do you like the school so far?" the little albino named Ryou asked.Â
"It's very strange, but much better than the American schools we had to go to!" they answered in unison.Â
"How do you do that?" Malik asked. "Speak in like, complete togetherness!"Â
They shrugged. "Dunno,"Â
"Wow, that is amazing!" Tristan remarked.Â
"Meh," Yami rolled his eyes, unimpressed.Â
For the rest of lunch they ate and talked with the group of teenagers. What an odd group it was too. One of them seemed to be egyptian, albino, a pharaoh for some reason, a fan girl, and use to be thug, and a sweetheart. It was still fun having someone to talk to, unlike at their old schools. Even if no one knew how to tell them apart either.
Joey excused himself to go back to school a bit earlier than the rest of the group. His twin decided to stay behind and continue to chat.Â
Joey into the classroom, shutting the door quickly behind him. Kabia was in the same spot he was before, typing away at his laptop with vigor.Â
"Hey," Joey said. Kabia looked up, muttered something that may have been a greeting, and returned his attention to his computer. Joey hopped onto his own desk and stared at Kabia.Â
"Were you here all lunch?" Joey asked.Â
"Yeah, why?" Kabia asked, pausing in his typing.Â
"Did you have anything to eat?"Â
"No,"Â
Joey stared at Kabia, wondering why he hadn't eaten Finally he pulled out his box lunch and put it on Kabia's desk.Â
"Here, something to eat." Joey said.Â
"What's this for?" Kabia asked, a bit harshly.Â
"To eat," Joey said. "Don't worry, my twin made it so it's not deadly."Â
Kabia stared at the absurd teen before him. He sighed and opened the lunch. It was a traditional japanese box lunch, quite beautifully made too.Â
"Thanks Joey," he said grudgingly. He was rather hungry...
"What?" Joey asked, his face full of shock.Â
"I said thanks," Kabia said, wondering what was wrong with the blonde.
"No, you said my name," Joey pointed out.Â
"So," Kabia shrugged.
"But I never said what my name was." Joey said, still in shock.
"So, what does that have to do with anything?" Kabia asked, starting to get confused, and hiding the confusion with anger.Â
"No one, not even our parents, can tell me and my twin apart! How the hell did you do that?" Joey said.Â
Kabia was dumbfounded, no on has ever been able to tell them apart? Wow...
"Would you rather I call you something else?" Kabia taunted, not quite sure what to say.Â
"No, though, I'm curious. If you had to call me something else what would you call me?" Joey asked.
Kabia drummed his fingers on the desk, thinking. "Puppy," he said.Â
"What?!" Joey asked in shock, falling off the desk in the process.Â
"See," Kabia smirked. "You're just like a puppy. You're even kneeling at my feet."
"Why you stuck up bastard!" Joey growled as he jumped up. "I was not kneeling at your feet, I fell!!"
"Of course you did," Kabia said, a tad too sincere.
"I'll kill you," Joey threatened.Â
"You wouldn't hurt your master," Kabia taunted.Â
Joey glared darkly, muttering curses underneath his breath. The bell rang sharply, causing Joey to jump again.Â
"Looks like my puppy's a bit jumpy," Kabia said.Â
"Shaddup!" Joey snapped.Â
Kabia laughed as Joey continued to glower at him. Students began to stream into the room, laughing and joking from lunch. Joey watched as his twin came in with the group they had eaten lunch with.Â
"Hey Joey, there you are." Jounouchi said brightly, smiling.Â
"Hey Jou," Joey replied.Â
Jounouchi slide into the seat next to him. "I missed you at lunch,"Â
"Oh, I'm sorry Jou," Joey pulled his twin into a hug.Â
"Kyyyaaaaaaaaaaa!" Both of them looked up in shock when the girls in the class suddenly started screaming. They cocked their heads towards each other, wondering what was going on.Â
"They're so cute," one girl said, swooning. Both of them turned a dark red and ducked their faces. This caused the fan girls in the class to scream even more.Â
Kabia looked at Joey's red face and was torn between jealousy and laughter. The jealousy made no sense though, what was their to be jealous of? Kabia shook it off, no need for stupid feelings. Though he allowed himself a low chuckle at Joey's bright red face.Â
The rest of class went by quickly. By the time school was out Kabia was ready for his presentation. Joey, on the other hand, had retained no information from the lesson, instead choosing to try and figure out the puzzle that was Kabia.Â
When the bell rang for the end of school Joey jumped again. Kabia masked his laugh with a cough, which got a weird look from Joey.Â
"Let's go," Jounouchi said, already up.Â
"Okay," Joey smiled. He grabbed his bag and hefted in onto his shoulders.Â
"See ya pup," Kabia called behind him.Â
Joey bit his lip in anger before turning around. "I'm going to kill ya!" he yelled.Â
"Joey, you have to stop being so violent," Jounouchi pointed out. Jounouchi hugged Joey around the middle in attempt to hold Joey back.Â
Joey closed his eyes in frustration before turning to his twin. "Okay Jou, let's go," he said, smiling sweetly. Jounouchi smiled in return and linked their hands.Â
Kabia felt another pang of jealousy as he watched them walk from the classroom, hand in hand. Of course, all the fan girls in the room started 'Kya' ing again at the display. Kabia snapped his laptop shut, angry that he was jealous and frustrated because he didn't know why he was jealous!
Still, Kabia mused, I like my new pet.
