Description
Ryou stared blankly at the board, not listening to a thing the teacher was saying. His body, heart, and soul were all broken. Ryou's one true love was dead. Bakura had committed suicide right in front of him two days ago and Ryou couldn't stop him. The worst part was that Bakura had killed himself to protect Ryou when all he had really done was break him.
Malik and Yugi looked sadly at Ryou. They both knew that he would be sad if his yami died but they never guessed it would be this bad. It was like Ryou wasn't even there.  All he did was stare blankly at the teacher. Ryou never ate, drink, or sleep. When he wasn't in school he would curl up on Bakura's favorite chair and cry. Yugi and Malik had tried everything they could think of but nothing made Ryou feel better.
The bell rang, signaling it was time for lunch. Ryou sat at his seat and stared blankly at the board.
"Ryou, lunchtime." Yugi said softly.
"Huh?" Ryou asked. "Oh, yeah…sorry." He apologized as he stood up.
"Come one, let's go eat outside." Malik suggested. Ryou just shrugged and followed him outside.
"So," Yugi said as they sat down underneath the cherry blossoms. "Do you want to go to the mall later?"
"Sure!" Malik agreed. "Ryou?" he asked looking at Ryou.
"Sorry but I have something to do tonight." Ryou replied, not eating.
"O…k…" Yugi said worriedly.
"Do you need help at all?" Malik asked.
"No."  Ryou said shaking his head. "I'll be fine."
"If you say so…" Malik sighed.
"Thanks for trying to help me out so much." Ryou told his friends. "I really appreciate it."
"Of course Ry." Malik said.
"We would do anything for you." Yugi added.
"And sorry that I haven't been myself lately…" Ryou told them.
"We're sorry we didn't believe you about B-him…" Malik apologized, catching himself in time. Ryou nodded and looked down.
Malik and Yugi knew that they couldn't say Bakura around Ryou; they had found this out when Ryou had come to school the day after Bakura's incident.

*Flashback*
"Hey Ry!" Malik called from the back of the classroom.
"Hi Ryou." Yugi said as he walked over to his friend. "What's wrong?"  Yugi asked as he saw the dead look in Ryou's eyes.
"Did Bakura hurt you again?" Malik asked as he walked up to him. Ryou looked down as tears filled his eyes. His hands began to tremble.
"N-no." Ryou choked out as the tears spilled over.
"Ryou, what's wrong?" Yugi asked worriedly.
"Ryou?!" Malik exclaimed.
Ryou fell to his knees and hid his face in his hands. The whole class was staring at him as he sobbed. Yugi and Malik knelt beside him and tried in vain to comfort their friend.
"H-he's d-dead…" Ryou sobbed. "H-he k-killed himself b-because he thought it w-was the only way t-to protect m-me! I-it's all m-my f-fault!"
"Bakura?" Yugi asked. Ryou nodded through his tears and continued to sob. Just then the teacher walked up and told Yugi and Malik to take Ryou to the nurse until he was better. Yugi and Malik had done so even though Ryou was never going to be completely alright after what Bakura had done to him.

*End of flashback*

The bell rang and Ryou walked over to trash can,throwing away his uneaten lunch. Malik and Yugi followed in suit and followed their friend to his locker. They grabbed their books and walked to their class, none of them speaking.
For Ryou the rest of the day was a blur. For Malik and Yugi it was agonizing torture. They had to watch as their friend failed to answer the simplest of questions or even respond to his name. Finally the teacher just stopped calling on Ryou altogether.
As the end of the day drew nearer Ryou became more withdrawn. At the end of the day he barely even noticed when Malik and Yugi said their goodbyes before Ryou disappeared around the corner.
Ryou walked to his apartment in a daze. He was in a zombie like mode as he climbed up the stairs and unlocked the door.  Ryou walked into his room and placed his bag on the bed then he disappeared into the bathroom, locking the door behind him.
Ryou slowly undressed, leaving his clothes a pile on the floor, then he filled the bathtub with water. As he shut the water off Ryou grabbed a knife from the counter, the same knife that Bakura had killed himself with. The knife was still stained with blood, Bakura's blood.
Ryou took a deep breath and turned to face himself in the full length mirror. The Ryou in the mirror had dark spots under his eyes from lack of sleep; he was so skinny that you could every rib that jutted out, his cheek bones stood out on his hollow face, his hair hung lank around his face, and his eyes were dead, they were blank and unseeing.
The knife Ryou held raised and pierced Ryou's chest. Blood ran in rivets as Ryou carved a heart with 'Ryou and Bakura' tucked inside. As soon as Ryou was done with that he walked over to the bathtub and sat down in it.
The water came up to Ryou's chest, skimming the bloodied heart. The heat of the water felt nice on Ryou's skin.
Ryou took a deep breath and plunged the knife into his left wrist. Blood splattered the walls as his left hand went limp and fell into the water with a splash; Ryou couldn't move it at all. Ryou took the knife in his teeth and stabbed his right wrist. As Ryou tried topull the knife out of his wrist it slipped, slicing through one half of his wrist.  This hand fell into the water also.
The water in the tub was a pinkish color due to all of the blood. Though the pain that radiated from his wrist was now ebbing.
Ryou's eyes fluttered shut and he had the sensation of floating. The last thing Ryou remember was falling into his one true loves arms, Bakura. Leaving behind his broken, mangled body.
