Description A commission from the Space Wolves customer. I had to do a little conversion work to get the correct pose wanted by the customer and I think the final result is very good and clean. It's a pity really that the basic model is very rigid and doesen't allow for more freedom. Oh well.

I enjoyed myself again, and while I'm a little sick of Grey Knighs, I love big robots, so enjoyment was a given really. While the paint job is fairly basic with more attention given to the blade, I had fun painting the dark metal with some rusty smudges here and there and it provides a nice contrast to the shiny look of the armour.

Colours used:
Leadbelcher, Iron Breaker, Asurmen Blue, Runefang Steel, Balthasar Gold, Gehenna Gold, Auric Armour Gold, Chaos Black, Ceramite White, Mephiston Red, Wild Rider Red, Lugganath Orange, Nuln Oil, Devlan Mud, Doombull Brown, Dawnstone, Ulthuan Grey, Gorthor Brown, Baneblade Brown, Karak Stone, Pallid Wych Flesh, Khorne Red, Pink Horror, Fulgrim Pink, Hoeth Blue, Lothern Blue, Blue Horror, Balor Brown, Dryad Bark.

Wow, the whole model is amazing but the sword really stands out. Love it.

Thank you. The blades are a bit of a headache, but they're worth it!

Great jo b as always!

Question: How did you make that blueish steel? Is it the Runefang, Arsurmen Blue and tons of layering?

Thanks!

As usual I go for a simple and fast approach: Leadbelcher Base, Asurmen Blue Wash, 1 (or 2) Iron Breaker layer(s) and Runefang Steel highlights. That's it.

Makes sense. The steel is pretty dark, a leadbealcher base is the way to go. Yes. Runefang as the very last highlight... should have seen that coming!

It is hard for me to know which colors they are, i am not using the GW palett anymore (Vallejo is easier for airbrushing)

Yes it's difficult if you are not familiar with the colours. I myself prefer regular brush work, it's more satisfying.

I think both are awesome! But it is true, blending and transitions are more impressive as brushwork rather than airbrushed!

Dunno, it's just that I never really liked airbrushing, not even when I studied illustration.

Don't get me wrong, you need mad skills to use effectively an airbrush, so I do respect the technique, it just isn't for me.

Like Everything, thats a Personal decision. I like it a lot. When I started painting plane models this tool made my models look sooo much better.

It does crave some practice to use it. But I feel using the airbrush is more a craftsmanship than talent.
