I don't think that's fair. You're making out the Male WG community to be a Japanese-obsessed idiots who won't appreciate Western art, but that's completely wrong!

A lot of people here have requested Western animation. In fact, I requested Huckleberry. Other Rabbitman artwork requests has Coop, Storm Hawks, Kim Possible's brothers, Adventure Time, Invader Zim, probably some others I forgot about... wouldn't these classify as Western styles?

And for the record, all of them were quite well received, except for some people who had no interest in WG who thought the whole thing was quite strange. But when regular WG fans are the ones complaining, surely something has gone wrong?

As I said in my first post on the whole thing, the artwork is great, amazing even. I just don't like the character. For me, the nose, glasses and bowl-cut make him unattractive. Hope I'm allowed to say that!

I never implyed that the entire MWG community thought this, just the people who have seemed to collect here in PSRM's picture which is why I was a little confussed as miffed here. There is so much use of the word UGLY thrown around here for a character that was never meant to be designed as 'cute' in the first place. Hucklberry IS designed to be cute and most of the other character who meantioned are designed 'cute' as well or drawn in such ways that they aren't too exagerated, unlike the subject in the main picture here. In a way, its both kind of an insult to PSRM and the original person who requested this. Its basically saying 'We won't like this unless they are HANDSOM/ADORABLE. Now draw more of that or we won't like you anymore.'

I can understand that the character isn't everyone's cup of tea but really, some of the replies here have been ridiculus.

You seem like a really reasonable person, so I'm going to do my best to make my reply as cohesive as possible

Well, I guess Rabbitman is well known for his cute pictures. Heck, have you seen his chibi Transformers stuff? They're mind-numbing adorable! I dare you to look at them without saying DAWWWWWW!

And his WG pictures normally involve a cute or stereotypically good-looking character, and I guess that's what his fans have come to love about him. None of his fans has ever insulted Rabbitman as far as I know. I think everybody loves him far too much to say anything like that!

I think it's more of a frustrated confusion rather than anything else. They're just upset why Rabbitman would choose a character that was never designed to be attractive. Come on, even though we're into expansion, I think it's reasonable for us to still like good-looking characters, right? I mean, I'm sure the reaction would have been the same if he used Prof. Farnsworth from Futurama, or Herbert from Family Guy, or Quasimodo from the Hunchback of Notredame. However, nobody has said a bad word about the artwork, only the character. In fact, I made it an explicit point to say how good the artwork was even though I didn't like the character.

(Of course, I'm sure there will be some people who will argue "PROF. FANRSWORTH?! HERBERT?! QUASI-FREAKING-MODO?! BUT THOSE CHARACTERS ARE SOOOOO GOOD LOOKING!" etc, but you get my point I hope!)

I think you can still dislike a piece of work without disliking the artist. I am a massive fan of Rabbitman, but there are occasionally some pieces of work that I don't enjoy - this, for example, or the centipede thing. I would quite happily say I don't like it, because how else will he know? Just because some of his art isn't really my thing, that doesn't make me dislike him any less as a person. Rabbitman is pretty much the reason I'm on dA!

I'd ask you to take a look at some of the comments given for this piece and you'll see what I meant by people being too critical on the character, in a way that's both hard on PSRM and the original person who requested this. We've got people saying that they would like it better if it were 'a cute boy' and another saying to get rid of the nose and it would look better. Its not that they're saying the art is bad, but they're questioning PSRM's reasoning for picking this character, as what he did was wrong for their taste which seems to swing only in the direction of 'cute boys' and the like. People have the right not to like things, but the way the reactions have gone in this piece, it seems the only reason people don't like this is because, as I said, the character isn't cute enough or ugly.

I can understand people not liking a certain picture but some of the comments they have said have crossed the line from stating opinions to flat out just hating the picture for such topical reasons, mainly because the character isn't cute enough for them.

And to others, 'pretty boy' doesn't always mean the same style used in anime. I've seen people draw western style pretty boys with more masculine features. But then again, different styles for different people I guess.

This person isn't here to draw everything you want. And if you didn't want to be offensive, you could have not said anything. Other people's tastes are not always the same as yours.

Hey, give the guy a break. English clearly isn't his first language, so he's probably having difficulty getting his thoughts across. You're being awfully defensive for someone who dislikes this sort of thing...

Besides, from reading his comment (from what I could make of it), it didn't sound like a command at all! He just said that another character would be more popular. Which, in my humble opinion, would probably be true.

And he did say he meant no offence. I'm guessing his intention wasn't to flame. Constructive criticism is just as necessary as praise. Saying "don't say anything at all" is even more regressive than being critical.

Also, what he said wasn't constructive criticism. Constructive criticism would be if I corrected something about the anatomy. This guy is asking to just drop the whole idea and do something else just because he doesn't like the content. I'll be the first person to encourage critique, but that isn't critique.

This guy has made a comment exactly like this before about another of prisonsuit-rabbitman's pics of this character to which I responded in a much nicer way than I did here. He clearly hasn't learned anything. I'm sorry, but a language barrier doesn't really make any difference here; it really sounds like he isn't taking anyone else's taste into consideration. As to why I'm a bit defensive, I'm a fan of the character, and while I don't mind people disliking him, I'm sick of this guy bashing him.

But more than that, this guy needs to realize that prisonsuit-rabbitman isn't here to fulfill his every whim with no regard for anyone else's requests. Not to mention that popularity isn't nearly the most important thing in the world.

Firstly, not to sound rude or anything, but if you really dont like male expansion, why do you even look at these pictures?

Secondly, your second paragraph. I understand that maybe you havent been watching PSRM as long as the rest of us, but Jack Spicers Girl actually has one of the highest number of requests done - 5. the only exceptions are Supernova who also has 5, and myself with 4 (although, I've already requested a 5th!). To claim that some guy whose only had 1 request done believes that PSRM is "fulfulling his every whim" is ridiculous if you ask me. If anything, it would be the reverse...

Thirdly, I read the comments he made before. this passport guy seems to work purely on fave numbers, not what he personally wants. Wouldnt that mean that hes more along the lines of what everyone else's tastes are? Just sayin.

Finally, im a big big fan of male expansion, PSRM's work especially. I also really enjoyed DM at the cinema. I actually like Vector, but I can admit that some characters just arent that great for weight gain. Considering you dont like male expansion at all, you should be able to understand this better than most.

The reason I'm looking is because it showed up in the search I did, and I was curious. I don't know why that's so unusual; it's not like I came here to flame the work. Plus the actual drawing is very well done.

But that isn't the point at all. The point is that prisonsuit-rabbitman can draw what he wants and that includes requests. If it were simply that he hadn't gotten to passporter's request, he could have just stated that. Instead, he went to call the character ugly, and tell him to stop drawing him. Does that not sound the least bit demanding to you?

As far as characters that are good for weight gain, um...if I don't like weight gain, how does that make me understand what characters are best for it more? Not sure how that's logical. And I'm not sure how me not liking weight gain means I can't be peeved at this guy discouraging prisonsuit-rabbitman of drawing a certain character because he doesn't like it.

I think you read things too quickly. I can't find anywhere where he ordered PSRM to stop drawing Vector, or where he demanded to do his request. In fact, I dont think he even mentioned a request...

You've also completely misread what I said in my last paragraph. You apparently dislike all weight gain, so you'd be able to symphathize with people who don't like seeing this character being fattened. Does that make more sense now?

You conveniently ignored the main points I mentioned though, so I cant really comment on that.
