Description [Races of Domhan 5 - Ark'Seguths]

(Yes, yes, it's coloured. I wanted to colour today, bah)

So, Ark'Seguths. We met them before, just as background characters in the story of the Faelds and Kadmets. But who are the Ark'Seguths?
First, let's start with a history lesson. Back in the old days of the Faeld Empire, the Seguths were the other outer race that had a strong influence in Domhan. Their motherland was a rather taiga-ish place, with limited opportunity for agriculture, so they relied heavily on trading with the other worlds. The Seguths lived in peace with the Faelds, for a long, long time, they even battled the kadmet hordes side by side. Everything seemed just fine, until the coronization of their new Arkdur (king), Beldar. He seemed to be a reasonable young man, but after he lost his wife and sons in a assassination attempt he completely lost his mind. Beldar accused the Faelds, and hungered vengeance: he gathered the biggest Seguth army ever seen and attacked the Faeld garrison in Domhan. After a quick yet bloody victory he marched towards Vidathar and took the portal suprisingly fast. The Seguth army marched on, destroyed the Faeld forts with ease and pushed back the Faeld army to their capital. But during the way Beldar got worst and worst. He encouraged his soldiers to blindly massacre the Faeld civilians, torture the captured soldiers and so on. The Seguths were never accustomed to such warfare. They used to be the hunters, in harmony with the wilderness, who respect the life even if they have to take it - so there was a great tension between Beldar and his general staff. Under the Faeld capital, the tension could grew no more - Beldar executed one of his renowned generals for fictious crimes (mainly treachery), and that was the point when his army turned against him. The seguths killed Beldar and those few generals who stayed loyal to his horrible ways and turned their back to Vidatahar.
Bitter from the terrible things they were forced to do, the Ark'Seguths solemnly sweared never to accept king or leader above themselves. They decided to seal their portal to keep out any harmfull influence and retreated to Seguth Andur, only leaving behind a small tribe to guard the portal.
It's the best point in the story to talk about the Ark'seguth magic: they are the only race that can control ice magic. At the same time, this is the only element they can transform their mana into. So when the Seguths decided to seal the portal, they basicaly froze it with an enourmous ritual that also destroyed their old cities and  every single memory of their previous life. The Seguth tribes returned to the wilderness but soon they had to face a huge problem: the ritual they performed permanently changed the climate of Seguth Andur. The land, that previously was a nice taiga became a horrorfull and hungry tundra. And tho the Seguths are highly resistant to cold, they are not immune to it. In a few years their population dropped by 70%. Now, the Ark'Seguth is the smalles races of all, especially since in Domhan only the gardians of the portal, the Ordovar tribe is present. Okey, there is an exception: Sometimes new seguths appear at the protal - they are outcasts from Seguth Andur, where the most horrible punishment is the exile.
Huh. This was long.
Now to the picture.
The Ark'Seguths are amazing hunters and great at tracking down anyone - not only in the wilderness, but also in the city of Domhan. There are many different hunter subcathegory and one of the most interesting is the Spoutwalker. Spoutwalkers stalk the sewers of Domhan, they live and hunt there. They also live in small, anarchist groups - note: The Seguths are the only race where anarchist equals extreme conservative (you know, there's no ruler!). They are also great in headhunter works. The lady on the right is a Spoutwalker, in her DIY clothes and hooks. She is obviously from a northern tribe (you can tell by the super pale skin and the white hair)
The gentleman on the left is an Old Sage, a storyteller and healer, who's job is to remind his tribe of the errors of the past and keep them safe and healthy. Oh, yup, and the weapon on his back is called and agretur - a spear like weapon made from antlers. This guy is from a southern tribe - his skin is a bit less palid, and has a marbled-effect thanks to the thin skind and the strong blood vessels. Their hair also tends to be brownish, but grey and white is also pretty common. The Seguths are pretty tall, they are usually over 2 meters.
(also they have a plus phalanges on every finger)

Hehe, don't worry, I'm happy to see your comment no matter the time
I'm glad that you like our poor seguths, and yeah, they are having a hard time for a few decades now. Actually, we don't know if the assassination was commited by faelds, but the historians of the Domhanian Academy suspect (based on Alnar Achret's - an ark'seguth officer- diary) that it wasn't our Faeld friend's fault.
The seguths have some amazing subrace to choose from, so yeah, it's a very tempting race to choose
