Nautilus hissed in a breath as the crowbar slipped under the metal plate and began to pull. The screws tugged at his flesh as the crowbar wiggled the plate loose. Tears formed in his eyes as he resisted the urge to scream. His body trembled, twitching and tensing with each yank. Aura rested her free hand on his head and rubbed, occasionally scratching his head.
“I know, hun, but please sit still, it’ll only hurt more if you keep squirming.”

“C-Can’t you just unscrew it?” Nautilus’ voice trembled, much to his dismay. He hated feeling weak. Sure shook her head, the brim of her hat casting a shadow over her eyes.
“I can’t, they’re in too deep. If I tried, it’d just be more painful…” Aura paused, looking away from Nautilus. “If…If I could do anything else, I would.” With that, she continued prying at the metal plate. With a creak, tear, and pained yelp, the plate came loose, its screws tainted blue with his blood.
