Description

Name: Sylvina
Race: Dracon Demon
Gender: Female? From what we can gather anyhow

Age: ??? (Nearly got my head ripped off for asking)
Height: 6ft 2
Weight: ??? (Didn't want to risk it after the age thing)

Special abilities

Metal-kenisis: She prides herself in being able to control and manipulate certain metals. We've established already she can manipulate anything with iron, copper, tin, tungsten, silver, gold and platinum, but we're still not quite sure what else she is capable of manipulating. The more objects she manipulates at a time the more energy she needs and the harder it is for her physical body to move. She can manipulate them on an atomic level if she wants, but she avoids that since it takes too much time and energy to do so. Cannot convert things, though she's tried many times. There is no signal to indicate that she is using it other than moving metal bits.

Spectral wings: She has spectral wings which she can summon allow her to fly. They're composed of a demonic energy that is drawn from another dimension and funneled through two tattoos carved on her back. Although it can stop high velocity projectiles, low velocity objects can still go clean through without any resistance making them useless in close combat.

Human Totem: She has a totem hidden under her clothes that allow her to create a glamour of her being human. It helps her blend in a lot of the time, though she hates using it.

Alchemic Weaving: Her master Necrissa taught her the art of Alchemic weaving, which is the ability to draw/carve specific symbols to have certain things happen. As skilled as she is, each symbol is timely and often isn't combat convenient. She only every uses one symbol in combat known as the break symbol which weakens whatever material it's written/carved on and causes it to crack.

Temporary Regeneration: She heals much faster than most, but she's not invincible.

Weapons: Soul snatchers, Capable of draining life while storing the soul like a battery (Nightmare, Scream) , High powered demon rifle (Gumdrop)

Strengths: very Strong, resourceful, Swift, agile, Fire resistant, persistent, Resilient, Intelligent, all the strengths of a lethal hunter, excellent shot, skilled swordsman, Carefree, quite lucky,

Weaknesses: Arrogant, Impulsive, Greedy (for the right thing), Savage, Unrestrained,  Easily angered, Easy to taunt, Impatient, Chocolate makes her a little crazy, a complete sucker for cookies (seriously it's like a drug for her) , Overloading her with energy such as an electrical shock can temporarily scramble her abilities, but it also leaves her immobile for quite a bit. Problem with this is that it drains all power from the source and goes into her. It becomes unpredictable and has the potential to overload one ability while suppressing all the others or have all overcharged or none work at all. She can survive lightning strikes, so we're not sure how much she can take before being completely fried. Unfortunately she wouldn't let us do some tests...

Personality: Her ability to be cold and relentless causes people to fear her. She's very intelligent and resourceful, but her lack of patience and super inflated ego has been shown to get in the way of optimal performances. Sylvina may appear to have no heart, but she has been known to absolutely loyal to her friends. Unfortunately those who she does care for are a select few and most of these individuals are dead. Unwavering loyalty towards her master is actually a deep friendship she and Necrissa had developed together. Sylvina can't every say no to cookies. She loves to have fun, but her definition of fun is often quite destructive and usually someone ends up getting killed. Although most demons are able to lie easily, it is impossible for Sylvina to lie, but this doesn't make it impossible to manipulate words. She will do whatever she can to get what she wants, regardless of the consequences. She's chaotic and unpredictable, but she is quite greedy, but she doesn't value gold and riches. Her greed is her lust for power and attention. The only person who can restrain her actions is her master Necrissa. Violence in nature and combat oriented, if she ever gets a chance to, she will start a fight. She does it just to show people how dangerous she is. Arrogant and sassy, but still strangely charismatic. She loves it when people fear her. Killing brings her much enjoyment. Oh and she absolutely detests moths.

Not much of a backstory. She refused to tell me anymore after I ran out of cookies. -.-

From what I could gather, she's not just there to kill for money. Be very wary of her...

Whew. That was quite a bit. Thankfully subway rides eat up most of my time. Finally found some time to make the damn character sheet from all my bloody sketches.

So yes, Sylvina has entered herself in the OC tournament   hosted by   and  . Hope I survive the first round. Heh...

Any questions about the character feel free to bug me.

Cheers!

So, since we've been matched up for Round 2, this seems like as good a time as any to ask you some questions about Sylvina. : )

First of all, I seem to recall you mentioning in your prologue round that you wanted Cai and Sylvina to have some sort of history with eachother. Are you still planning on doing that? And if so, what kind of interactions did you have in mind? Even though you told me that said history would affect Sylvina more than Cai, I'd still like to know, just because it might influence how Sylvina acts around him.

Secondly, how exactly do the soul-snatchy sword things work? Do they, like, suck out the opponent's life bit by bit, or does a single hit take the whole soul?

haha, sure no problem.

Well, it was kind of a short encounter. My idea was that Sylvina was hired at some point to deal with a troublesome demon in a village. Nothing serious really happened, but she had to pretend to be someone else to be able to scare off Cai.

So Sylvina knows who Cai is, but Cai may or may not recognize her from before. Just an idea. If you don't wanna use it or have a better idea, please let me know.

Ah, ok so the swords are contact based. More contact makes the soul-snatching faster. So if you poke the tip into the target, it'll take a looooong time to gather the energy as opposed to if you jab the whole thing into the body. If Sylvina feels that the soul she's hunting is strong she'll activate the swords through pre-cut runes in the handles (I kinda forgot about that detail, but it shouldn't be a problem.. hopefully?) and store them. Thus she can use that energy to power up her wings and her metal-telekenetics. You can even jab it into fresh blood and it will work, but my idea of the soul is a violate energy, so when you die, the energy will release quickly.

Does that make sense?

Nope, that sounds good to me. I was just curious.

Ah, so the swords can store energy for her magic abilities, then. If the swords run out of energy, can she still use her wings/metalkinesis? Or does she have to suck out another soul to keep her powers functional?

So far everything's making sense, yeah.

Pro-roro In reply to Traumagician [2014-12-31 18:24:59 +0000 UTC]

Yeah she can, the swords are more like emergency battery packs if anything. She recharges power slowly and she hates feeling powerless so she'll more than likely suck souls out to keep up her A game.

I have a question about Cai, what's his fighting style? Does he go into centipede mode to overwhelm his opponents or does he prefer to tactfully use his centipededs?

Traumagician In reply to Pro-roro [2014-12-31 19:40:54 +0000 UTC]

Okay. Good to know. I think that covers most of my questions about Sylvina; I'll ask you more if I think of anything else.

Truth be told, Cai's main battle tactic at this age is 'oh shit oh shit I'm being attacked, run away'. He's a very weak combatant, and he knows it, despite his blustery 'UNBEATABLE LORD OF PESTILENCE' act. If he gets cornered into a battle, he goes into full defense mode, dodging/blocking as much as possible until he can shift into centipedes and wriggle down a hole somewhere. If he absolutely had to come out and attack someone, he'd want to do it as an ambush, and he'd freak out and abandon his entire plan in a second if anything showed a hint of going wrong. He far prefers running away from his problems to actually taking care of them, even in death competitions. (He signed up for the tourney by mistake- he doesn't read very well. xD) So basically, his fighting style is panicky, futile attempts to stay alive.

As for your centipede combat question, he would stay in an overwhelming swarm, almost guaranteed. He occasionally uses individual centipedes as scouts, but they're not very effective in combat- a lone centipede is pretty useless and easy to squish.

Forgive me; I intentionally designed this particular incarnation of Cai to be very difficult to write into a decent, balanced fight scene that doesn't leave his opponents looking like unfair, abusive baby-kickers. I wanted an easy-to-root-for underdog character.

Sounds good.

rofl, run away and swarm. Got it. XD

Ah no worries, It will most certainly make for an interesting write. Though, Sylvina herself is an abusive baby-kicker.
Sylvina: I HEARD THAT

Whoops.

Well...no applications so no one really tells their character's story of how they get pulled into this thing other than what they have already said, they don't have any rules listed by what I can see, and the story just has alot of holes in it like whats to stop everyone that got pulled in from ganging up on the badguys rather than killing eachother? Ontop of that, only a month to get things turned in to enter? Every OCT I've seen or been in gives people 3 or 4 months to get applications and ref sheets done as they really want to see how much story and work people put into things.

Pro-roro In reply to Blaze150 [2014-03-29 02:38:42 +0000 UTC]

Ah. Well it's my first OCT so honestly, I'm just rolling with it. It's also the first OCT that the host is doing, so can't really be too critical of them.

I see that you're quite well versed in the world of OCTs. Maybe you could suggest a good one for me?

Blaze150 In reply to Pro-roro [2014-03-29 02:42:28 +0000 UTC]

I understand and figured as I didn't see any other OCT stuff on your page. True, granted they were in their first OCT and it had the very same problems along with alot of godmoding/one sided fights.

I've been in a few, sadly only 2 have been good and its really hard to find a good one as for me the problems didn't happen till things got started. Lately the only OCTs that are going on right now are deathmatch OCTs and pokemon OCTs, nothing wrong with that but they are flooding the place. Best advise is to look in the FAQ if they have one and see if they have a rule about asking permission before character killing. Most of the time when they say permission is not needed, drama happens later on or people go kill crazy making other's characters look like weak pushovers before turning them into a bloody pile.

Lol. noclip hack. XD I tried to make sure that my character wasn't super OP. I never understood the point of godmoding. It always take the fun out of things when that happens.

Yeah, I've noticed that when looking through many OCT's. Though I feel it's mainly cause Deathmatch is the easiest to do and we always want to see who's the strongest OC. That's quite a good point you make. A lot of the time it cen get really messy cause people hate to lose, but then again that's the side of hosting any contest. You ahve to deal with the sore losers. It's when the judges are biased and unfair that's what gets me riled up.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Blaze150 In reply to Pro-roro [2014-04-01 02:55:40 +0000 UTC]

I never understood it as well yet people still do it and badly. One sided fights or their own OC is taking an ungodly beating then they score a 1 hit win.

Yeah this is true but at times I think people seem to forget alot that you're handling someone else's character and its not just some cannon foder you can toss around like a rag doll but some still do that and I'll never understand why. I mean its not like they would want the same thing in return. I for one don't mind loseing, its just I would like to lose to someone that treated me with respect and didn't half ass their work. Most of my "losses" alot of stupid things were done such as overly godly charcter turning the fight into something from DBZ, changing my character without permission, trying to kill without permission, death blow that didn't result in death and they just said "ow I give up" work copyed word for word, and ect. The list just gos on and on. If I lose I want to say "Hey this was really good, you sure as hell earned this win for sure." but so far I've only had that happned a few times, 4 times if I remember right out of 7 OCTs.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Pro-roro In reply to Blaze150 [2014-04-01 03:32:14 +0000 UTC]

Inflating their own ego I assume. >.> I think the 1 hit win tends to be the whole underdog gets lucky kinda deal. Makes you cheer on the weaker guy more, but if overdone I agree that it's really dumb.

Couldn't agree more. Yeah the whole transformation thing sounds really stupid. I think many people treat OCT's more like video games where you do whatever you can to win, even if it means hacking or being a cheapass about it. Though the judges really should be better at judging that kinda thing... Did those OCT's ahve a restriction in Godmode? If they didn't then I can't say that they cheated... but it is most certainly unfair that you should lose to that. Well, 4 out of 7 is above 50%. :3 Haha. I love a good challenge. I kinda wanna do a small OCT round with you now. (:<

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Blaze150 In reply to Pro-roro [2014-04-01 03:50:43 +0000 UTC]

Yep, and sadly alot of times they win. Yeah I can understand that but alot of times its used in poor taste. I mean if it was a good OC getting pounded by a badguy then yeah..but alot of times its 2 good guys beating the crap out of one and they get killed before they win.

Indeed, and yet judges just let it go on and it makes me sick at times. Alot of times the judges let it happen because they want that person to win. Every OCT has a thing about godmoding but they just ignore it to deal with one less problem...and yet it boots a good person that works hard out. I've had so meany bad things happen to me in OCTs it isn't even funny as alot of it were simple things that would have been WAY easy to fix but it was all ignored...and alot of big name OCTs are guilty of alot of these problems, letting people break rules or bend rules for them just because they want select people to fight or win.

Heh, that would be cool.
