Starting in the US Army Mobile Infantry, he was tapped to investigate the creation of a new HISS tank being developed by Cobra. Unknown to military intelligence, this new tank utilized advanced laser weaponry developed by an alien intelligence and sold to Cobra by the Decepticons.

Coax was forced to call in aid, when he was discovered, leading to his rescue by both GIJoe and the Autobots. Coax impressed both sides by shooting down several Decepticon Seekers.

Now, Coax has joined GIJoe and is being assigned to the new MASK task force alongside several Autobots to investigate the extent of the Decepticon threat to Earth.
