Lol, you probably don't care about my input on this, but here goes!
I got into Pikmin and Olimar because of Hey!. I'm dead serious.
I wasn't even AWARE of Pikmin's existence for the longest. I would see the characters and just dismiss them as nobodies. I would hear of this "Olimar" guy and would roll my eyes. FINALLY, after acquiring the full game (the demo didn't do it for me, as I sucked at it in the past XD) on clearance, I got into the world and LOVED Olimar's personality in the logs.
Long story short, if it wasn't for the "black sheep" of the Pikmin series, I wouldn't have gotten INTO the series.
I also main him in Smash. To the best of my abilities anyway. XD I love his running animation. Why he run with the arms back?
So yeah, another Hey! Pikmin fan here! Also confused about the unnecessary hate towards it...
(4 come out soon PLEASE)

Not at all! I'm very happy to hear about your experience!
That's one of the great things about Smash Bros, it introduces people to loads of great games they wouldn't normally try out!

I'm mostly with you on his play in Brawl. It was a nice new dynamic for the game, but I rarely played as him outside of just wanting to do something different once in a blue moon. In any case, I really like the interactive entry here with Olimar. Well done!

I still don't get why Nintendo is so weird with Pikmin. Remember when 3 took ages to come out? They better have a good excuse for 4.

Was it in development for a long time or just a long time between 2 and 3? I don't know that there's anything unusual about that, but maybe they wanted to get it just right. I do think the environments looked incredible.

It was originally planned for the Wii, but then they moved it to the Wii U later. And yeah, HD did help those environments in the end.
I just hope they don't hold back on the next one for Switch. Even Hey! Pikmin feels like it was made just to offset said holding back.

Ah, I didn't know it was supposed to be on the Wii.
I think it'd be a great choice for E3, if it's far enough into development.

I'm gonna say that I always did like playing as Olimar, even if I wasn't so good with him.
Look at him, he's so cute, stomping around in his little spacesuit!!

I haven't beaten Hey! Pikmin yet, but it's a lot of fun, especially if you enjoy the weird character designs that Pikmin usually has. The only things that have bugged me are the jetpack (I keep wanting to hold the button down, but you just need to press it so it's really my fault) and it's kinda weird that this game takes place on an entirely different planet. However, I cannot complain about having more Pikmin in my life, here's to hoping Pikmin 4 is announced soon!
