Strangely there seems to be more fan art of Smithy in his final form than in his regular form, but even more strangely I don't think I've found a single piece of his alternate heads.He's definitely one of my favourite villains and it's nice to see one who actually has a proper explanation as to how he amassed his army. Plus he smiths his own head.

A number of villains since Smithy have forcefully evicted Bowser from his castle, but Smithy has an entire military production line!

The actual magician's head used to creep me out so much as a kid, but in this masterpiece, it just makes him look as cool as heck!

Yeah, it does look a bit weird in the game and some of the details are hard to make out so I tried to streamline is as best I could!

5 different heads, each with their own ways to make things hard on you.
I always felt good when he'd use the Magician Head, as for that's when his DefenseΒ is super low, and therefor he's weaker that way. The Tank head was a problem for me though, since it's attack is a 1-hit K.O.

He actually very rarely used the Magnum attack on me, I was kind of lucky!

As much as I keep saying it will never happen I'm sure somebody, somewhere at Square knows the cult following these characters have and might just be able to squeeze one or two through in the future.

It's kind of unusual for any Mario Villain to have a final form. It's really a very RPG thing.

Yeah. Bowser is pretty much the main antagonist in the non-RPG Mario games, and the closest thing he has to a Final Form there most of the time, is either turning gigantic, or jumping in his Koopa Clown Car.

I had to google Wizard Smithy immediately, convinced he had this really gross nose on his lower face. Now I'm looking at the sprite and realizing those are probably his teeth and I've been very wrong for a very long time.

I know exactly what you mean, at one point I thought it was a third hand (or third leg? wakka wakka?) but I just wrote it off as teeth and wallpapered over it with my not-very-accurate mouth.

An awesome final boss. I like how unimpressed he is with you when you reach him. It's like he doesn't think you're even a threat.

Yeah, I like the fact that he lampshades Toadstool's completely hackneyed demand of "Give us back the stars now!" as if he even would.
