Description
We close out Inktober by staring into the black abyss within the jaws of Apophis, the Lord of Chaos. This insatiable beast waits constantly for the sun itself to come within its grasp so he can swallow it, plunging the world into discord.
In the original Egyptian mythology, Apophis is usually depicted as a gigantic coiling serpent. For my sci-fi purposes, however, he is very much alien, and the dominant predator in the Duat. His persistence in chasing down the transport of Ra as it makes its way to the Wellspring may speak volumes about his sentience, as much as it does his threat.
