Description "It's not the heat, It's the humiliation". I really love Lina's confidence.
Since I'm playing too much Video Games (dota 2 nowadays) decided to draw her. It was fun experimenting. Hahaha.

From ProjectComment

This is a very nice image of dota's pyromancer. You did a nice job of conveying the heat and warmth of her powers; and although the background is fairly basic, it works very well in complementing the character. The little glowing line around the character also helps to add a magical air to her and the dark of the background contrasts nicely with Lina.

I feel like her proportions are a bit off though; for a female character she has some very broad shoulders and I feel like her head is just a bit too small compared to her body. I also wish her pose would be a bit more interesting; at the moment she doesn't look too stiff, but her arms are just hanging by her side. If you were going for a 'ready for a fight' type pose I feel like you could exaggerate the pose a bit more to make it look more interesting, like make her bend forward a bit further and have her arms a bit further back. If you were just going for a regular pinup style image to show off the character I think you could've done more with her arms, especially since a sense of movement there could allow for some nice flame-shapes and add to the sense of movement.

The fire and lightning looks very well done, but I will second the other commenter's point that you could work on your lighting and shading. Both of these effects will generate a ton of light; which you showed well with the internal glow of her hands, but on her body there's not much evidence of this. Remember that to show off lighting properly you need shadows as well as a contrasting factor; and usually when the light is brighter the shadows also get darker. As a sidepoint; you already seem to do this a bit, but the two sources definitely emit a different color of light, so keep that in mind while shading, but also keep in mind where each source does and does not shine. At the moment your colored lighting seems to be a bit of a glow that shines onto surfaces that the light probably wouldn't be able to reach from it's current position. Keeping little details like that in mind can really add to the believability of your piece.

Still this is a wonderful piece and you did a great job in portraying her. Keep up the good work and I hope this comment will have been of some help to you!

Hi hi hi! I'm here from and hopefully, this comment will give you some good critique! Well, here goes!

To start off with the positives first, I like the unique effects used to create the lightning and fire. I can tell they took a base from either real life photos or a special type of brush, but regardless, they do look very nice. The look of the little bits of fire that rise up around her also gives the picture a sense of energy. I also like the orange color scheme, and how the blue lightning brings some contrast to that. I think you could have gone further than that by giving blue bounce lighting on the side where the lightning is coming from, to really make her pop even more, but what you have still looks nice! I can tell you put some effort into using color on the midtones to give a sense of different colors of light, which is a nice attention to detail. The careful way which you define shading and edges is also very nice.

As for suggestions for improvement, I recommend with a piece like this that perhaps you get a lighting reference. Light coming from two sides of a person can create really interesting, dramatic shadows, which I don't think we quite got out of this piece. Instead, the light source looks to be coming from above, which is a tiny bit odd when you have fire and lightning around her. Having such bright light not create its own shadows is something that can sorta take me out of the piece. Perhaps take an artist model, or a roughly posed piece of clay, and light it with two lights in the direction of the two hands. That might give you a better idea of how the light should look.

Overall, I can tell you're trying your best to make something really good, and that ambition should be lauded! There are some technical skills that just aren't quite there yet, but that's okay! It's better to try new things and fail until you stop failing than to just be good at one thing, and only one thing. If you keep up these more ambitious efforts (just maybe next time with some references for how the lighting would work!) eventually you'll create something truly amazing and impressive. Keep up the good work!
