I had the hardest time trying to visualize the Grievers. From the description I came up with the idea of a giant 'mecha slug' as the closest mental comparison I could make. Maybe that's part of what made them scary: The fact that it was so hard to imagine something resembling it.

Still, nice concept art. I like your take on them too.
